I really love this anime so i have never seen the movie (orginial one) so I want to know which is better, the anime or movie? I have heard about the story of romeo and juliet several times and i know how they die in the movie but i think anime way of romeo and juliet's death is better than the movie (no offenese, it's only my option =D)

personally, i love both, and both make me cry. The movie is with real persons, so you suffer a bit more. But the anime is just beautiful and makes you dream... so, i guess both are very good. But since i love anime, i choose the anime:)

It's a late reply, but... this club seems pretty inactive. xD;
I like the anime better, since it's more uplifting and a bit deeper than the original. Still, the movie's great and definitely worth seeing.

I think the anime is a lot better and more touching.I like the original play a lot to. But the movie was ok but didn't think it was a great adaption.

I love both.. I've seen both the original (traditional) movie, and the newer (modern) version of the movie.. Out of those two I liked the newer one, simply the fact that they used the Elizebethan (?) dialect, but put it into a modern context..

Then again, on the other hand, I loved how they added in a bit of, science fiction I guess you'd call it? for the anime.. So I don't think I can choose haha

Well I must say I like the original play but it is really hard to compare with the anime. Still I didn't like the new version of the movie that much (but that's because I don't like Leonardo di Caprio).
btw there is also a opera in french which I've seen recently and it is really nice to. the music makes it even more dramatic.

Anime... long shot... :S the original story was so simple minded, if you ask me... the two of them fell in love, couldn't be together because of their families, Romeo killed Tybalt, he has to leave, everything goes wrong in the end and they both end up dead! They didn't think things through if you ask me, they were too impulsive on the original story out of love-at-first sight... in the anime, they get to know each other for real, the conflict between families is bigger, it's more impresive! Besides, in the anime there was so much character development... and Romeo died saving her! In the original, he dies because he thinks she's dead, which she wasn't... not that in the anime he though she was alive, but he was so brave and so amazing in the anime... I'm a total anime fan, that's for sure...
