| Dragging her luggage behind her, she carefully slot the key in. The door opened with a swoosh, cool pleasant air hits her in her delicate face. She winced because her sensitivity, it took her a few seconds to get used to it. With a sigh, she pulled her luggage in and closed the wooden door behind her. Collapsing, she could hear voices of people passing through the hallway in a distance. She is exhausted after her long journey, and the thought of been away from her young kids whom she had left at home does not excite her. She was not supposed to be here in the first place, been asked to replace her sick colleague. Her job as a journalist does keep her on the toes most of the time, but she enjoyed it. Yet, she had missed her lovely kids although it is barely three hours from when she last meet them. She took out her mobile phone, the latest model in the market, a gift her husband had gave her for her thirty-first birthday just two weeks ago, dangling from it is a handmade strip by her sons. A pair of five years old, whom never seems to run out of energy. It was purple in color-her favorite, with the words "We Love You Mum-ha". They had a unique way of addressing her, "Mum-ha". She couldn't understand why, until her husband reminded her that, she had always laughed in front of them and they decided to give her this "nickname". But who knew that she will never made it back home. This is a story that records her last few hours of her life, her regrets, her sorrow, and her drive to survive. Her name is Adela Butler. |
