What do we do as an observation club? Well we observe. Thus our club shall have a monthly event. (While we are still a small club, a new event will start exactly after the old one.)

So what kind of monthly event would and observation club have? Well we would all watch the same anime.

So without further adieu. Our first club event is to watch:

Spice and Wolf

http://myanimelist.net/anime/2966/Spice_and_Wolf
http://myanimelist.net/anime/5341/Spice_and_Wolf_II

And by proxy the sequel if you have the time.

My hopes are that these events will draw us closer as a club, and eventually build something worthwhile. I ask all members to participate.

12 days of this month are already gone, leaving half the month left.

As for the next event's anime. I'm willing to hear suggestions. I chose Spice and Wolf after looking at all four of our lists and seeing no one has seen it. With that, good luck.

Well I was hoping to get to this eventually. Might take a while to download, but at least it's only 13 episodes for the first season so if nothing else I should be able to watch through it should I find the time.

You have 17 days. If you only do season 1, you can have it done if an episode a day XD. It's not required to finish before the end of the month, but it is recommended.

Glad to see you want to take part.

I understand that. But there's no way for me to tell what anyone hasn't watch without a updated anime list. That is why I was also asking for suggestions for next month's. Otherwise, there are going to anime picks that I haven't seen.

Well anime is often used as a blanket term for both so eh.

It'll be a lot harder to manage time for every anime though so no guarantees on being able to watch everything but I'll try.

It's all thanks to my super NEET power. It gives me this power over time and space which allows me to have more time available for anime then other people.

As if being European could win over time bending powers.

As for March's Observation, I've been thinking Hyper Police. Tenjou Tenge was suggested, but I have already seen that.

That said if I go with Tenjou Tenge, it just means I won't watch it, as I have already.

Everyone is allowed a suggestion or to bolster an already mention anime. In the end, the highest vote will be the next observation, otherwise it will be a random draw.

naw... i meant the other definition of bohemian. something like an intellectual, artist, writer, etc who gives up the value of monetary goods (voluntary poverty)(or socially unconventional person) in order to have a more fulfilling life. that's what i always thought of when i fist found out what NEET meant. I always figured they were kinda synonymous... although i am mostly german lol

Well, even being new, I suppose I've finished the first season of the observation this month. How ironic. This club's observations should be fun! It shouldn't be a problem to watch four anime at once if I'm not gone.

Welcome to the Observers.

To note though. The March Observations are the possibilities for next month, not this month. :P

But these kind of events are the only event I could think of that would be good for an Observation club. If anyone can think of something I haven't, by all means suggest it.

This observation event is to keep the members of the club somewhat on the same level. That we all watch anime at different paces, but at least with one a month we can be on the same wavelength.

There's two things that need to happen before I can do that. First, I'd need some sort of program in which I don't have to do any work in order to choose a random one (a lowly club member who works for bread scraps works as well). Second we need for club members to properly settle in before we get into full swing of things.

What better way to get people to get together then to vote on what next to watch?

I'm not a good leader, but during these starting days of the club, I need to find people that can help out in the long run of things. Once I have two other admins, then things can really get started.

That aside. we can have two event each month. one of which is chosen by vote, and the other chosen by random.

compiling a list for a random number generator seems like it'd be a way bigger problem... i'll see what i can come up with. aside from availability should i take anything else into consideration in this universal anime list. yay im gonna called that the U.A.L.

Well what we could do is use the ranks already established on here and then do random number generator and then pick the anime with that number. We don't know exactly how many animes are on this site but let's be honest, it's not like everybody is dying to see an anime ranked like #10289 or something. =P The only issue is finding a cut-off point in terms of number ranking and then from there it shouldn't be too bad.

February Observation Final Thoughts.

With 8 days left in the month it's time to review our observation for Spice and Wolf.

For me, Spice and Wolf is one of a kind. Even set in medieval times it's approach is completely different. Which is refreshing. The characters feel real, and the world is enthralling.

9/10

So here are a few questions for our observers. (All questions can be as brief or as long as you want. Just avoid spoilers.)

Did you enjoy the anime?

Would you want to see more of the anime?

What out of 10 would you give it if you were forced to give it a number?

Do you have any other final thoughts?

As for March's. Voting is now closed. March is a two part observation. A voted series, and a random series. The one that won the vote was Tenjou Tenge, as for the random one. You'll find out on the 29th, when I make the March Observation Thread.

Spice and Wolf 10/10

I loved the sense of adventure it gave me as I watched them travel throughout the world and it kept me wondering where they'd end up next and what might happen along the way. I also liked the character development between lawrence and holo (or horo, had 2 different subs) and watching them grow together. Although there wasn't any kind of epic conclusion I didn't feel cheated, but strangely satisfied. That being said I'm rooting for season 3 one of these days.
@shonen: What would you like to have seen done different in order to give it that extra point for it to be a 10?

Did you enjoy the anime?
yes i enjoyed it very much i loved the midevial setting and the fact that its interesting without any action or fighting (even though there was a bit lol) its also very uniqe which made me appreciate the person who made it. plus it was a funny somewhat romantic story which i thought was good

Would you want to see more of the anime?
Yes but i would want it to be in like the final strech where we actually see an ending to the story

What out of 10 would you give it if you were forced to give it a number?
8.75 out of 10 lol

Do you have any other final thoughts?
welll though it was very good i found some situations and ideas a little hard to understand and didnt really get it till i read the manga lol but still very well done

Note: I only watched the first season, as I was currently watching several anime, and the second season wasn't available on instant netflix :(

Did you enjoy the anime?
Yes. I loved the music and the detail, as well as the thought put into the situations involving Kraft and Holo. It was very original, and didn't leave any open questions about details or events in the story.

Would you want to see more of the anime?
I always want to see more of every good anime, even if it's ending was already perfect. I simply can't give you a straight answer, because unless I didn't enjoy it, it will be a yes.

What out of 10 would you give it if you were forced to give it a number?
10. This series was original, entertaining, and had the ability to be romantic, comedic, and well-thought all at once. All the characters had interesting personalities, and even something simple like a business trade could be miraculously captivating and interesting. Deep enough for ya?

Do you have any other final thoughts?
Refer to above question. I really had explained it there. What I do know is that Holo is one of the greatest, most interesting, captivating, mesmerizing, and explosive personalities in an anime to become one of my favorite characters ever.

One question: If Holo's body is in a human state, with a skeletal configuration of a regular human being, how can she freely move her tail about? I suppose I shouldn't question the gods.

ummmmm... i would have to sayyyyy...hmmmmm 8.8??

Do you have any other final thoughts?
I love love loved it originality, always appreciate something new and different its like...hmmm...venturing into the outside world after a full days worth of studying~ (I can breatheeeee!!!!! and best of all!! back into anime mode!!!!) neways, great attention to detail, the different problems they faced and the solutions or tricks they came up with were FANTABULOUS!!!! (was over the moon when I got some of them right!!! xD) can believe it was based only downside was that there is currently no season 3 TT^TT and MOST IMPORTANTLY they never got to eat the honey pickled peaches!!!!! SAD FACE!!!! ah well.. >3<

Finally finished Spice and Wolf.

I enjoyed it, it wasn't an omg amazing anime but it did a pretty good job with what it was aiming for and the character interactions were interesting to see.

I'd like to see the second season and such, though I can't say for sure when I'd get to that. Way too many things to watch before I even think about that.

I think I'd give it an 8, namely because for what it was intended for it definitely had success, though it's a different style from the type of animes I tend to love most.

The interactions between Holo and Lawrence were a major part of what makes this anime appealing, and I gotta say it was pretty awesome every time Holo went full on wolf mode. Didn't expect an anime about economics and such to be so enjoyable, though I'm not sure how much I'd enjoy other animes of this type since this one in particular had to do a good job for me to enjoy it.
