It varies depending on style. Older girl, younge girl, elderly, moe?

I use TMOHS character eyes for reference.

I just draw my drawings with my own style.
Before this, I'm just a copycat. Copy anything that I can draw.
Then I started to look at various manga/anime artists styles. Now, I manage to create my own styles and draw with my own styles ;D
Lol, I'm not very good at giving tips. But, I'll like to have some tips from you guys ;)
I'm kinda having troubles to draw clothes wrinkles and shading. That's what I wanna learn and improve.
Thanks in advance.

Drawing folds in the clothes is a pain in the ***.

Shading is easy because I took a class on it.

First find where your light source is. Start at the eyes. The white in your character's eyes are best used for reference. Draw a dot at where the light starts. To be precise, use a ruler.

I'll post the next step if you understand this one :) Im not good @ explaining :P

I have a tip ^^
When you're smudging use a q-tip or some tissue instead of your fingers. I find when you use your fingers you end up accidentaly leaving fingerprints on the white paper and make a mess. XP If you use use q-tips, stock up on them (and hide them from your dad. mine steals themXD) because you can only do so much with one.

Also when shading, watch where you set your hand. A couple times the side of my hand will touch the paper and then when I move my hand around I end up leaving a streak. >.>

Thanks guys.
One thing I always have when I draw. A paper beneath my hand.
That paper can help you to prevent messiness and dirty too ;D

I have a lot of trouble making really neat and clean lines... they always end up with that "sketch" look to them. Any tips?

Yah draw more light when it comes to drawing the sketches then darken the final touches and then softly erase the whole picture...this makes the sketches disappear and making the final touches look liek skecthes ^^

Arms and legs. Sometimes they get too skinny or too fat. Other times they're too long or short. It's just a confusing mess to me at times. Any help with that?

^Well, the best is to use guide lines. I can see you have no trouble drawing body right?
The elbow is same length as the waist. And the palm is just below the bottom.
As for legs, I just have feelings on their length.
I'll draw up some guidelines for you if you want.

Mmm... the only advice I can think of is that eyes are the most expressive part of the face. Say you take one of those Ichigo faces up there, even if you cross out the mouth and nose you can still see a recognizable emotion. So basicaly the eyes are the key to showing a specific emotion.

Girls, atleast for me, seem to show emotion more in the eyebrows, and the angle of which there eyes are. Since there so big I have trouble with them... can't help you much here...

Of course there are lots of ways too draw girls eye's:

kk heres another tip... to show the feelings of an animated person -you have to detail the eyes...the eyes show the most emotion -whether you believe me or not.IT IS XD

If it helps any here are a couple eye drawings I've done. Just look them over and note the differences between the lines and angles for each emotion ^^

My main concern now are the folds on clothes, they affect my drawings a lot.

Tips on this would be useful.

hmm...
My tip is: dont make them random. And dont make it poofy unless it's intentional.

Say joints, where clothes bend, start there and just find of follow the flow of the clothes. Or the point of where it's crinkled. Say if a perosn was bending over, there would be folds along waist area.

All I can really say is:

FLOW O_O

Visit my profile for a look of how I do them if you want, it's under recent work.

Practice cloths separately, in a simpler environment with a real example.
Start with simple cloths, like a dish towel dropped onto something, hangin somewhere...
Try to examine how and why the folds looks like the way they did.

Hey, i was wondering if anyone knew how you might be able to bring out a bit of movement in your drawings, like what you see in all the action mangas.
I've tried drawing dashed lines along my solid lines (at a different angle to my solid lines), but it seemed to look more like shading than movement
any tips? ^^

Start off dark, and use the lightest pencil you have, try using a B or 2B pencil since they're softer, but if your still too dark use a H pencil. C:
