| Hi :D technically my second post in this group but may as well make it a semi-introductory post. Anyways... What are some of your favorite classical violin songs? And... a bit of a question since I haven't talked to many other violinists much. I'm auditioning for this pretty high-level orchestra at my university - I've only played a year but I've made a successful audition with the same conditions as before. My only wonder is, the director says to pick a piece that shows off both your musical capabilities as well as technical capabilities. I don't have much experience with solo (or at least being the primary instrument) violin classical pieces, to be honest, but if anyone's heard of it, I was planning originally on playing Bach's Violin Sonata No. 1 (movement 1). Still planning on it, but might there be other options? I also considered Pachelbel's Canon but figured it wasn't technical enough - since I could sightread it pretty decently without much practice - for something as prestigious as this I need something I would need to practice on! lol So what are some of your favorite classical violin songs, and is there a notable song you might want to mention that is both "musically" (good-sounding) and "technically" (difficult to play) good? | Maybe try pieces from La Corda dÓro? Haha hope I'm of help cause I'm not that pro ^^ I'm only grade 5 |
