| Fate zero > Fate Unlimited Blade Works Ufotable version > Fate Heaven's feel (3 movies) (This is the main canonical order I recommend) That leaves Fate stay night (2006) Studio Deen one. Fate Unlimited Blade Works Studio deen one (You can watch the above anytime after the Ufotable ones or you can skip them) Everything other than the entries mentioned above is a spinoff and can be watched once you watch the main series in the first line for maximum enjoyment. |

| There is no correct order if you stick with anime. Every order has it's problems. The main story (Fate/Stay Nights) is a visual novel with 3 equally important routes: Fate, UBW and Heaven's Feel. And they are meant to be seen/read in that order. If you play the visual novel, you can easily do that and then see anything else you want with zero issues, since the rest are separate stories. The problems come with the anime: Fate route was adapted to the old anime by Deen, but they mixed other routes so those are spoiled if you start with this. UBW was adapted by Ufotable, no spoilers for Heaven's Feel, but if you start with this you're missing context from Fate. They also added a few original scenes that connect to Zero, so you might be a bit confused if you didn't watch that. HF. This requires quite heavily that you are already familiar with the story (mainly UBW, but you miss a bit of impact without going through the Fate route too). Fate/Zero: This prequel is a separate story by a different author. It was made after Stay Night and spoils nearly every big plot twist from it. Despite that, people tend to recommend it first, because unlike any of the F/SN routes on their own, it's a complete story and can be fully understood in isolation and because some people are weirdly obsessed with chronological orders even when they don't make sense (it's also a better adaptation than any of the other animes). |
