The movie is volume 4 through volume 10 of BLUE GIANT.

The story of the original volumes 1-3 before coming to Tokyo has been cut.

@kihel, thanks for the info! I will read volumes 1-3 then before watching the movie and then its sequel, Blue Giant Supreme.

@DrOctavius99 I wondered if they cut it because of the limited running time in the movie. In the TV series, they could have been talking about the story from the first volume.

@Memore You're welcome! I saw this anime in the theater and thought it was awesome, so if you get a chance to see it in the theater, I would recommend seeing it in the theater. The acoustics, or rather the sound, was great!

@kihel, you are right! Very pity that a TV series hasn't been done.

@kihel, thanks! But I live in Russia and sadly they don't show this movie here.

The story I believe covers from chapter 31 all the way till the end. Dai moves to Tokyo in chap 31 (towards the end of volume 2) and that’s where the movie picks the story up. It does cut A LOT of content since it’s adapting the entire remainder of the story in 2 hours, but I think it was still a great adaptation definitely worth the watch. Upon completing it, I do recommend reading the manga tho, since as I mentioned, a lot of content is removed, which consequently prevents the watcher from truly understanding and appreciating the characters and story to their fullest extent
