Can I read Zero before the main series?

I like to read things in chonological order instead of release order when possible, but obviously that doesn't always make sense. Can I start with the prequel for Akame ga Kill, or should I read the original first?

Yes you can, but in this case I wouldn't recommend it, I'd say you will enjoy it more after reading the main series and then zero

you can but the way they make certain references to events and characters, you wouldn't really get a full appreciation of unless you've read the main series first imo
