Hi everyone, I was thinking of finally starting the Evangelion series. Where do i start, there are so many of them, any info would be greatly appreciated.

Watch the original anime series, Neon Genesis Evangelion.
Watch End of Evangelion.
Don't bother with the recap movie; it's pointless.
Eva Rebuild movies (1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 [which hasn't come out yet]) are set in a different universe. They're like a reimagination of what Eva could have been.

I'm also filled with pure-hearted ulterior motives.

well, we don't know for sure yet until 4.0. there's a theory going around that it's set in a "re-do" of sorts where characters retain character development from before but don't remember what happened, which makes a lot of sense when you take into account how much more stable Asuka and Shinji are, and how better Rei is at expressing herself. of course this is all conjecture, but I really like the idea and hope Anno goes this route
