When an anime as multiple spin-offs and ova's and sequels etc. it can be quite confusing for people to discern the correct watch order. It would be much easier to find this out if a 'watch order' was added to anime pages!!

Yes, this would be great to have.

I'm at odds with this suggestion.

On one hand, it'd be good to help get rid of certain types of threads: Gundam, Monogatari, Fate/Stay Night, GitS, etc.

On the other hand, just how many series could benefit from this? After all, many other similar threads are from people that just can't seem to pick one at random and use the Prequel/Sequel to get to the first one and continue from there.

And what if there's no definitive viewing order? Sequel/prequel relationships can be misleading, release v. chronological order can be equally acceptable; the variations can be endless.

Which in fact applies to 3 out of 4 of these franchises.
You could certainly make clearer the timeline/universe relationships for Gundam and GiTS, but even within universe - are you going to denote in-universe chronological or release order?
Are there going to be in-depth explanations to the placing of each entry? What if there's strong dissent amongst a fandom about placement order? Spinoffs and vague shared universes?

An all-encompassing viewing order might be more difficult to render than at first glance.

But I do agree that these franchise would benefit from some sort of 'overview' at the very least. The current chaining can make things laughably convoluted.

Until MAL updates with something of that sort, I'd suggest checking out anidb's relationship graphs when trying to make sense of franchises.
(Tenchi Muyo's for example)
