Symbols change throughout time and even now people still think of Snakes poorly although the perception has gotten better. People used to worship cats but then also killed them for being symbols of evil and witchcraft. It depends on the country and time period. |

| Snakes are awesome. Villains are awesome. Therefore snakes are for villains. Seriously though, I think they use snakes because they are frightening, sneaky, and people have a natural fear of them like spiders, so it intrinsically primes the audience to see them as villains. |
