I would agree that overall he is not a sarcastic character, he is more of a blunt and a cynical person, with black humor. A lot of people liked him because he was a breath of fresh air. He is well written and fleshed out, some related to him, and he is likable and interesting. With a three dimensional personality, and logical reasons and motives for his believable behavior and actions. He came as a surprise for a lot of people, because judging by the cover, you wouldn't think a rom/com would give that much focus on the protagonist, or present intriguing social commentary and a bit of satire. Most rom/com have MCs that devoid of any personality or focus, that are overshadowed by the attractive female characters, while the MC is used a self insert. While it's the opposite in Yahari. He is just ''badass'' in his own way. And people loved that. |
