Lolita Fashion

Information
Lolita fashion draws its inspiration from Victorian-style and Edwardian girl's clothing and often aims to imitate the look of Victorian porcelain dolls. The Rococo period has also been defined as an influence of Lolita. Lolita style outfits are typically decorated with ribbons and lace trims. Skirts are knee length and often are worn with a petticoat to add volume. Frilly, ruffled or lace-trimmed Victorian blouses are popular with Lolitas and designs are usually modest, sometimes with long lace-capped sleeves and/or high-necked blouses. Knee and over-knee socks or stockings are also popular, as well as tights. Child-like shoes or boots such as Mary Janes complete the look Accessories may include mini top hats, parasols, and lace headdresses, usually detailed with ruffles, ribbons, lace or bows. Hair is often curled or a curled wig is worn to complete the porcelain doll look. Common motifs in the various Lolita style include Alice in Wonderland, bunnies, hearts, cake and other sweets, flowers, and strawberries. There are many styles that make up Lolita Fashion. The most well known is Gothic Lolita, which applies the aesthetics of Gothic fashion to the childlike look of Lolita fashion. Common colors are black, dark blue, red, and white. Other style of Lolita fashion include: Sweet Lolita - Focuses on the child-like aspect of the fashion and features pastels, gingham, and lots of lace and ribbons to emphasize cuteness. Common colors are light pastels and white. Colorful prints with cute themes are widely used. Classical Lolita - Tends to have a very visible Victorian girls' fashion, Baroque and Rocaille influence. The style tends to be more mature. Common colors are off white, pink, burgundy, blue, brown, black, and other deep/muted colors. Features floral prints and empire waists. Punk Lolita - Combines punk fashion elements such as tattered fabric, plaids, safety pins and chains to the Lolita fashion.Common colors are black, white and red. Wa Lolita - The combination of traditional Japanese clothing and Lolita fashion. Usually consists of floral patterned yukata (sometimes kimono) with the bottom half of the garment altered to accommodate a petticoat, or a yukata top and a plain Lolita skirt. Qi Lolita - The combination of traditional Chinese clothing and Lolita fashion. Typically made of silk brocade in patterns such as blossoms and flora, with decorative frog fastenings. However, cotton tends to be used in place of silk. Erotic Lolita - Erotic in a fetishistic sense, rather than in the revealing of skin. "Erololi" can use slightly shorter skirts than other Lolita styles, but it is erotic in the conservative Victorian sense as its main components are often undergarments worn to be seen, such as corsets, bloomers, and garters. Often it is more modest than a great deal of other contemporary fetish fashions. (Source: Wiki article, modified) We welcome all followers and admirers of Lolita fashion here!
