I have noticed that a large percentage of anime and manga with with quality plots and story lines are based on novels. There are of course exceptions to this, notable, well known (and well loved) examples being ones such as Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Code Geass.
I'm sure there are also many people who would disagree with me, and they are free to click the lovely arrow at the top left.
It started out because I wanted a list of anime and manga based on novels that others could add to, so that more such adaptations could be brought to my attention. I fancy there are also be at least a few other people out there who would also like such a list.
Side note: We who have read the novels must strive not to be too hard on adaptations! But I still feel It should be mentioned that while many adaptations do not live up to their respective books, they still count! Because even if many fans of something agree on that point, it is still a matter of opinion.
Note #2: I am not all knowing! If you happen to notice an anime or manga listed here that is NOT based on a novel, but rather, TRICKED me with a novel based on IT instead, please kindly correct me!
(Two I am not sure about at the moment are: Shigofumi and Tatakau Shisho)
