Yes, if you actually listen to them, 90% of the german in subtitles isn't from the show, rather from the theme of the subtitles. It's an anime about girls learning how to operate Panzer tanks, so they are setting the mood with the german words. It never gets in the way of the plot, they only put it in places like "Understood" or "Good work". I can't say if it's a good move or not, but I laugh at it even they are going sometimes overboard with the german parts, I still find it hilarious.

I almost know enough of the Japanese but, with a bunch of them I have to look up what the words mean, and there is really no point in partially tranlating it in German, unless they are talking in German. Which more than half the time they are not.

I usually see Commie, but I don't know much about sub groups. I consider myself lucky to have taken German for 3 years in high school to get past this German English mix subs.
