Soko Ezaki (メガネさん)Megane-san is not the real name of this character, but the nickname given to her by the mangaka. She is called Megane-san because she wears glasses. While her name is not deliberately kept hidden for spoiler reasons, it is revealed in the final pages of the final volume; "Shimojo" is her maiden name.Soko had a difficult childhood and eventually married a rich man that abused her frequently. On the brink of despair, she turned to her old high school classmate, the lesbian Chiyomi, to get her out of the situation by killing her husband. After the murder, the two flee and encounter numerous obstacles in the form of getting along with each other, as Soko doesn't trust Chiyomi's intentions and her trauma prevents her from opening up to anyone. Soko carries a lot of resentment towards Chiyomi for her seemingly perfect life, unaware of the circumstances that her sexual orientation create for her. She constantly looks down on Chiyomi and berates her for being so easily influenced to throw her life away, all the while hiding her own insecurity and loneliness behind a facade of composure and logical thinking. Despite claiming that she hates Chiyomi and calling her "stupid" many times, Soko nevertheless refuses to part with her and is constantly puzzled by the intensity of Chiyomi's feelings for her.
