MAL has been a daily thing that I use, whether it be for searching anime ratings, updating my list, or checking out some episode discussions. It's a great site in whole, but I think it could use some fine tuning, such as fixing the way they update their anime, how their server handles everything going on around the site, and possibly more user involvement.

MAL is already a huge site that influences many, but it could be so much larger. Updating anime can sometimes be a hassle, from going page to page, having to search your anime (or manga), click it, then finally updating it. Sure, you can just edit it right where you search it, but sometimes the server doesn't recognize that you have done that action, and won't update your list (more on this in the next paragraph). If they could find a way to make an interface, so all I have to do is stay on one page to update all of my anime flawlessly, I think more people would come back to update their Anime/Manga lists.

As mentioned above, MAL has a tendency to not update your lists, and other things such as group invites, forum posting, and more. This could be a complication that lasts for a couple minutes, or a couple hours. It's a huge problem that needs fixing asap. Whenever this happens to me, I always get mad and usually don't come back for at least a day or so, because I wouldn't care to bother with a broken site. Luckily, I've always came back. I don't know whether this is an issue with the site itself, or someone spilling some coffee on a server at the office, but this needs some serious attention.

Lastly, I want to touch a little bit on user involvement. This really isn't an issue, but I still wanted to talk about it. It seems like everything revolves around the forums for users, which can be a good thing, but also a bad thing. My idea to help emphasize people to be active in the community, is to maybe ask them to discuss an anime when they "completed" it, after updating their list, or maybe linking them to an episode discussion after finishing an episode to share thoughts. This would definitely make me want to be more involved in the discussion around anime on this site.

So that concludes my thoughts about user involvement, site stability, and my ideas on more site revisions. Hopefully some of the stuff I talked about made sense. Thanks for reading.
