Totono Profile Liner Notes
For such a meta game, I needed somewhere to vent out what the heck just happened!
So, duh, I chose Miyuki.
Otherwise, why would my profile not have a trace of Aoi in it?!
I think it's actually possible to save scum the final choice, but I didn't, and yeah, while I am curious of Aoi's ending, I'm now in the position where I'd have to go through another fifteen hours to play the game all over again.
In fact, when you first start the game, it picks the random set of personality traits/little details for Miyuki's security questions so the game would basically screw you over if you just skip, skip, skip till the moment where you have to break into her phone. By the way, I got my 10 answers right on the first try! PROUD. But not before two incorrect answers...
Miyuki is... a crazy bitch and yet she was my choice at the end.
I hated her when I was first stuck in that loop with her! Yet, I came to like her when she would speak face-to-face, off-the-script with me. And then I hated her again when I thought I fucked up big time when putting Aoi's code in, and Miyuki was one step ahead in the backlog! Of course! All of this went through my head already, since Miyuki modded the game and controlled the UI, then obviously she could read everything! And yet I subconsciously treated her like an idiot.
Honest to God though, Miyuki is actually really clever and rational. (I know, what a contrast to what I just said :P). She doesn't become unhinged for no reason at all *cough* thanks to the most my nonchalant of betrayals *cough* and figuring out the power of God that just fell into her hands... It's enough to shock anyone into doing something out there. In the final segments when Miyuki is being fully honest to me, can anyone really call her just a random crazy at that point?
God gives a hint on how to proceed through the loop. One of the methods was to "lower her guard" by being affectionate to her, but when she faked falling asleep to catch me red-handed trying to hack her phone, it's clear Miyuki never trusted me no matter how well I played along as she clearly admits to later how meaningless it is to just click a mouse... Her actions defied even the prediction of God at that point.
Miyuki's personality is actually not super complex, but what happens and how Miyuki reacts is what does a super job of showcasing her best and worst. In fact, the one word that keeps coming back to me is my respect for her. She reaches hell and back just to make it work and as far as I'm concerned, that journey makes her more than deserving of happiness in her one life that she might fully live till the end this time.
Now, Aoi...
I don't feel like explaining every reason why I didn't pick Aoi right now, but admittedly, the choice was still a bit difficult even when I clearly already had Miyuki in mind.
Because Aoi is fine.
But I never understood her, and I guess that's a big part of it. Even with Miyuki's bat-shit crazy moments, I could understand her in retrospect.
Plus... lewding Aoi was messed up. I mean, you think Miyuki coming in and clocking Mr. Self-Insert Protagonist on the head was "WTF is happening?!", I was already at that reaction during the lewd scene before hand lol.
If you've read this far, I have a tiny present for you!
(Unless, you've already fully easteregged my profile...)
Down in the lower right is a little code—no, it's not a God code!—that you can search up for Miyuki's ED song.
If you picked Miyuki, recall that hard-earned path to happiness you saw her off on!
And even if you chose Aoi, try listening to the bright everyday of an alternate future!
Speaking of the God codes, one more thing.
That phone shows up again at the very end. I found only Aoi's code worked and shame on you if you forgot it!
There were a couple other numbers shown throughout the game and while I made a note of them, none of them worked here. Also, they were all ten digits vs nine for Aoi's.
Perhaps if you see this phone again in Aoi's ending, dialing Miyuki's code would work?
Who knows.
I'll write them down here anyway.
Miyuki (old phone): 999 582 324 43
Miyuki (new phone): 999 483 238 42
God: 999 961 792 19
(Disclaimer: I thought it would be fun to write this with the game's message at heart—to treat them like the fourth wall is completely collapsed—and I feel I can appreciate the game even more this way. My one disclaimer is that I actually know damn well Miyuki is just a fictional character LOL. Bless her.)
