Anime Relations: Monster
These are all my thoughts from watching "Monster", which I kept as I watched the series in June 2013. They are episode by episode mostly. I kept them in the form that I wrote them originally, as I was processing the show while watching it.

Note: because I kept a rather thorough log for each episode this is just an index page. I will create separate entries for the notes, they will be linked here.

My final impression of the series was:

An anime worthy of the rare 10! Extremely well-developed plot spanning 74 episodes; a very complex, deeply humane story. The characters are complex, multi-dimensional and the storytelling VERY comprehensive. The art is refreshingly realistic: no eyes covering 3/4 of the face, no spikey violet hair, oh no the art here is beautifully real! These characters are drawn like real people, the backgrounds are detailed and wonderful. All characters meaningfully contribute to the story; hence events take a while to unfold but instead we get to bond with and/or learn a lot about characters. The anime takes care with details, so questions about the minor characters will also get their answers.I have never seen anime THIS ambitious, thought-provoking. It's like an excellent novel! Favourite episodes: 6, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15,16, 17, 19, 20, 27, 29, 30, 34, 37, 38, 39, 40, 46, 51, 55, 58, 60, 61, 64, 66, 67, 69, 70-74
