Anime Relations: Un-Go, Un-Go: Inga-ron
Recently, I've been a bit obsessed with watching Un-Go. To me, this series is not that good as a detective anime (if you think about it from a purely detective anime point of view): you don't get to see much of the usual dynamics, like how clever a crime was committed or how it was cleverly solved. However, I am enjoying this anime very much for other reasons. The overall main story, background stories, and the themes are very interesting to me, and they are not shown in a linear narration but actually through the same mysteries the protagonists are solving. Basically, the anime doesn't just give you a simple narration of the story in a random episode and then its done; you learn of it through the mysteries solved. You also see how these events have affected the people involved and the country.

To me, the main focus in this anime is not on "how was the crime done and solved", but on the "why did it happen". This focus is different to me, who is used to reading or watching detective stories where the focus is more on how the crime is committed or how it was solved. I also love how the "ugly truth vs beautiful lie" debate is ever present in the anime. Basically, it makes me think, it has a different perspective, and I like it ;)
