Head

Hair
Okay, let’s get the big issue out first: Fate is a blonde. That just so happens to be my least favorite hair color, in no small part thanks to the worldwide insistence of praising it to hell and back. With that aside, Fate’s hair is pretty nice. First, she’s apparently blonde in homage to Char Aznable and his troupe of imitators, not just because. Mind, the Nanoha series still has too many blondes, but she was almost-first. And second, her hairstyles are actually fairly nice. As a loli she spends most of her time wearing lovely twintails, which she ties with black ribbons until she gives them to Nanoha in exchange for her white ones. She still has black ribbons when transformed. In fact, even though all forms of adult Fate have different “base” hairstyles, she ALWAYS gets twintails when transformed, a nice touch. Speaking of, Fate in both StrikerS and ViVid has her hair down with a ribbon at the end, which is a bit “childish” but still very cute! Finally, in Force she switches to a “low” ponytail that emphasizes her battle awesomeness, at the cost of not being as cute. Still, she doesn’t look bad either; in fact, this is possibly my favorite ponytail style. Oh, regardless of age we see her with her hair fully down a few times and she always looks good!
Grade: B-

Eyes
While Fate’s hair is my least favorite color, her eyes are my favorite! Red eyes are the most beautiful a girl can have, IMO at least, and they go great with her tendency to wear black clothes and, admittedly, with her hair color.
Grade: A+

Body

Build
Depends on the time. Her loli form looks very nicely-proportioned, actually looking a bit older than you’d expect for a 9-year old. This isn’t that bad actually, as she still looks deliciously loli without being overly so. Her older form looks, well, older, with no particular changes to her body between ages 19 and 25. She has sexy legs in this form, by the way. There seem to be no official measurements for either form, unfortunately, but she looks fairly average in height anyway. Her only flaw seems to be her rather notable bust size, though thankfully in her case this isn’t as emphasized as another, better body part.
Grade: A

Butt
Fate’s ass is a miracle of the universe. Round, soft and somewhat sticking out, Fate’s ass stands tall over the masses of flat-assed anime girls. In addition, this is one of the VERY rare cases where a girl being assy is recognized by fans and creators alike! From fans, Fate has lots more butt fanart in proportion than most girls, be it Nanoha girls or overall anime girls, as well as having more “butt play” fanart than many. From the creators we have her glorious thong in the very first series, though it wouldn’t be until StrikerS when they fully realized its awesomeness and made sure to have Fate with her back turned to the camera surprisingly often. ViViD is also a big offender of this, with Fate even showing her BARE ass in artworks a couple times. There is only one flaw to Fate’s butt: For all its wonders, she never gets a scene where her ass is pointed out or does anything special. For shame, if only she accidentally facesat Nanoha or kept Bardiche between her cheeks!
Grade: A-

Clothes
Because of the long timespan covered by the show, Fate has worn many outfits. Her magical girl outfit is easily one of the best and is always present, giving her a sexy black leotard that occasionally turns out to have a THONG BOTTOM, as well as black thighhighs with a miniskirt for absolute territory. Her Sonic Form has spats instead which are also sexy in a different way. As a loli she wears cute casual clothes with a black jacket and a white skirt, and she also joins Nanoha’s elementary school and wears the uniform with PANTYHOSE! She must love the pantyhose, for she keeps it in StrikerS for her military uniform, which isn’t anything special but doesn’t look bad either and has a nice tight skirt. As an adult she also used for a time a different transformed outfit, not bad but not as sexy as the original. In addition, Fate is one of those characters that benefit enormously from official art, where she has worn school swimsuits, gym uniform, goth-miko clothes, naked apron, yukata, a wedding dress, a maid outfit and many more! The only flaw is they really like putting her adult self in a bikini, but since she’s often shown from behind in those pics, nobody cares.
Grade: A+

Mind

Personality
Fate is a character that changes quite a bit as the series goes on. At first she comes as clearly KDEG and devoted to satisfying her mother’s goals, no matter the cost. She even takes her punishment of whipping! Thanks to Nanoha, she changes sides and slowly warms up until she becomes a more open, if still shy and lovely girl. By the time StrikerS comes up Fate is more “normal” personality-wise, though she still has a gentle and sweet side that contrasts with Nanoha being more assertive and sure of herself. Her relationship with Nanoha is possibly the most important part of Fate’s personality, as she changes entirely because of her and shows deep affection for her. In battle she starts as a bit “rough” so to say, but she soon changes to someone who prefers a fair fight. Speaking of, Fate is a magical girl, and as such she has a variety of attacks, favoring thunder magic and the use of her weapon. The most memorable is, of course, Zanber Mode the giant sword of destruction. While it’s hard to define Fate’s personality all that well, it’s hard not to fall in love with her regardless.
Grade: A-

Libido
Going from canon, not that much actually. Sure, she has some implied relationship with Nanoha, especially since they are both “mama” to Vivio, but nothing canonical. Well, they do sleep in a big bed together! ViVid and Nanoha and Fate’s voice actresses support their couple too, while the Drama CD support heteronormativeness and that’s why nobody likes them. Besides Nanoha, some people pair with Fate with Chrono or Erio, but this is rarer in comparison, and the latter is more because Erio is paired with every female anyway. Still, the less we talk about shipping, the better.
Grade: C

Age
Also like Nanoha, Fate has gone through a variety of ages. 9 on the original two series and its movies, 15 in the A’s epilogue, 19 in StrikerS, 23 in ViVid and 25 in Force. She’s mostly seen in her 9 or 19 years old self tho and while neither is bad, both ages happen to be a bit far from my personal preference. If only we could get her as the average of both!

Voice
Nana Mizuki has a pretty voice and she does a good job as Fate. In addition, there’s the typical bonus of having Nana Mizuki involved: She sings the OPs and the insert songs! Her singing is awesome, especially the inserts and the A’s OP, and that counts too.
Grade: A-

Total: 83 (B+)

Now, that wasn’t so bad.
