Well, then maybe I should actually write that blog. We shouldn’t make our readers wait any longer, especially with you being half an hour late.

Head

Hair
Well, first thing first, Kanna has short hair. That’s bad. The haircut itself isn’t even my ideal for short hair. However, she has positive things to her hair too. Mainly, she has dark blue hair, my second favorite color, and it matches with her eyes and overall choice of clothing for bonus points. She also wears a cute hairpin on the right side, which she replaces with a flower in the token summer festival episode. Finally, on flashbacks she had a tiny side-tail, which isn’t all that cute and I’m glad she dropped. So basically her hair is alright, but nothing special. As an extra, having short blue hair is one of the main reasons fans compare her with Sayaka Miki, and I can see why.
Grade: B-

Eyes
Nooo, not blue eyes again! Jokes aside, Kanna’s blue eyes actually work better than in most cases, simply because they match her hair and I really like that. If only they were a darker tone to match better she’d be perfect, but her current tone isn’t bad either. There is one bad thing, however: The other main heroine has blue eyes too. Considering they’re designed to be as different in both looks and personality as possible, it makes taking off the feeling blue eyes get bias difficult. Ah, well.
Grade: B

Body

Build
As I was saying, the two heroines have different body types. One is tall and busty and the other is my type, thankfully “the other” is Kanna! She has a nice slender figure with small breasts, and in the pool episode you can even see a little her ribs! On reality that’d be bad, but in 2D it looks kinda cute as long it’s just a tiny bit, otherwise it looks kinda creepy. Not in Kanna’s case! Her legs aren’t bad either. As for official measurements, she is 152 cm tall and thus fits in my ideal range, her weight is 40 kg which is about normal for an anime girl her size, and her three sizes are 73/54/75, which fits with that I said about her being slender.

Butt
While Ano Natsu has a small if varied amount of fanservice, most of the butt honors go to Mio or Ichika, not to Kanna. However, there are two official images showing her derriere, and they’re good! The one in sukumizu gives her a surprisingly sexy butt, and the more famous one in bikini apron is not as curvy but still looks quite good, AND her ass is the focus of the image! She sure knows how to put those 75 cm to good use.
Grade: C+

Right, I forget girls aren’t used to hear butt praise, only chest stuff.

Clothes
Kanna is the classic example of a character that gets saved in this category by official art and one-off clothes. Her regular outfits are a white shirt and jeans, something as generic as it gets, and a light blue tank top and denim shorts, which are a small improvement but nothing impressive. Her school outfit is also a rather bland yellow sweater with a white shirt and a grey pleated skirt though it has a cute blue bowtie as a saving grace. To be fair it’s her SUMMER uniform, maybe the regular one is better. As said, her alternate outfits save the day! The first “alternate” is her swimsuit, but being a bikini it only goes so far. It did give us the aforementioned rib scene tho, plus they have a star right above the buttcrack for a little focus grab. More importantly, she combines it with an apron in one image for some nice moe-ness! While talking swimsuits, she also wears a SCHOOL swimsuit, but sadly it’s only a bit in the first episode and with a bathing cap. There’s a pretty nice pic of her in it tho, as mentioned before. In one episode Remon gets her drunk and she wears a catgirl maid outfit, complete with white thighhighs! That outfit got some buzz at the time. During the token summer festival she wears a cute yukata that suits her slender body well. Finally there’s her middle school uniform from that one flashback, and being a black blazer outfit you can bet I liked it. In short, the only thing holding Kanna from better ranks is her kinda dull selection of normal clothes, and I blame the summer setting partially for that.

Mind

Personality
Kanna is a kind and gentle girl, cheerful and outspoken. As said she is the opposite of the shier Ichika, not that this is a bad thing for either of them. She also has funny reactions when drunk. Some would call her a tsundere, but she’s really nothing of the sort. Fine, she does have a bit on a tsundere moment when Kaito’s childhood friend shows up, but so does Ichika, and in general it comes as J. C. Staff thinking that was funny as opposed to a mark of her usual behavior. No doubt you’ve noticed some mentions to Ichika: Much of the plot of Ano Natsu revolves around the love triangle between those two and the guy, so it’s a given comparisons will come. While this will get a better explanation in the “libido” section, just know that Kanna is a very sweet lover and, when realizing Kaito loves Ichika, tries her best to let them be together despite how much pain it causes her. In a way Kanna is the most tragic character of her series, and while that holds true for most “losers” in love triangles, Kanna is one of the biggest examples of it given how much the series near the end reminds us of how she totally has no chance and how apparently Kaito never loved her. Poor girl.
Grade: B

Libido
As said, the series is about a love triangle and Kanna is part of it. Apparently the reason she loves Kaito is, get this, he was smiling when his parents died. I suppose she felt bad for him. The real question here is why any self-respecting woman would love Kaito, as he’s a caveman who believes HE and only HE has any right to lead in the slightest bit in a relationship, flat-out tells this to the woman he loves and when she confesses, she makes her STFU and says HE is the one declaring to HER and that she better go make him a sammich, bitch! Okay, I exaggerated a little the last part, but boy, does he come like he belongs to a few centuries ago. To be fair the dude is decent otherwise, but ugh. Anyway, as said near the end she realizes Kaito loves Ichika and that Ichika really loves Kaito, so despite Ichika probably never coming back anymore, she tells her to go get with Kaito because, well, that makes sense.
: I-I just wanted him to be happy…
Oh, don’t worry, dear, I understood your intentions perfectly. This part of the history was just awfully rushed and it shows. The point is Kanna REALLY loves Kaito and wants him to be happy, even if not with her, showing how big her love is. Oh, I should add Tetsurou, her childhood friend, loves her. Sadly, Mio loves him and Kanna doesn’t, and since they aren’t main characters, this never goes anywhere. But the main couple gets together, so who cares!
Grade: B

Age
She’s a first year high-school student, so 15. However her birthday is on the 31st of July and the show is set during summer, so she probably became 16 at some point. Doesn’t really change her score, but worth noting.
Grade: B+

Voice
Kanna is voiced by Kaori Ishihara, a relatively new VA who has a done a couple of cute young girls, and this is no exception. She does a nice voice that suits Kanna very well! Hopefully she’ll get more roles and her partner Yui Ogura too.
