General Genres:- bl - anything that would fall under "boys' love".
- shoujo - all shoujo related manga.
- josei - may include some shoujo, but mostly josei.
- seinen - don't read much of this .. but here they are.
- fantasy - I also don't read much of this. But for the few I do ..
- action - this one, I must say, is also among the genres that usually go untouched. >.>
- long - usually reserved for the manga that exceeds 10 volumes, but there are a few that are more like seven or so.
- one-shot - self-explanatory, although it doesn't have to be a literal one-shot. It may just be one volume long.
- comedy - lol.
- romance - I would say that at least 90% of the manga I read is categorized under "romance". Easily.
- gender bender - either girls pretending to be guys, or guys pretending to be girls.
- reverse harem - bluntly put: lots of hot guys. :D
- ecchi - pretty obvious, I would think. I don't feel there's any dire need for an explanation here.
- drama - something that is particularily dramatic. I actually read .... quite a bit of that o.o
- paranormal - I don't think any explanation is required here.
Specific Themes:
- sports - I really love the tags that are so obvious that I don't even know what to write here.
- showbiz - anything relating to showbiz. Could be tv, theater, whatever.
- student x teacher - relationships between students and teachers.
- law enforcement - usually cops. Usually yaoi. But really, anything with anyone/thing relating to law enforcement is here.
- yakuza - really focusing on manga that is yakuza related, but I suppose all organized crime related stuff would be found here. :)
- doctor - usually yaoi, but anything with a sexy doctor would be here ^^.
- ninja - niiiinja alert. Speaking of ninjas, someone remind me to upload my ninja pea pictures <3
- vampire - bloodsucking fiends.
- werewolves - also includes shapeshifters.
Absurdly Meticulous Genres:
- shounen-ai - strictly shounen-ai. Simply put, bl with no sex. :D
- soft yaoi - pretty innocent yaoi. Doesn't show anything indecent. Emphasis on "show".
- average yaoi - your regular yaoi. It may still have some rather ... "steamy" stuff, but when it does, it isn't too detailed.
- explicit yaoi - well ... lots of sex, pretty much.
- hard yaoi - lots of sex would be putting it mildly. I usually reserve categorizing something as this for the ones that are just ridiculously ... explicit. And also the really stupid, meaningless ones that are pretty much just sex. I doubt you will find many high scoring ones here, honestly.
- yaoi - I know that this wasn't just bl, that it was yaoi, I'm just unsure how to classify it [See above five classifications]. Most likely because I've started using tags about a year after I read some of this stuff ... >.>
- soft romance - these are the ones that are usually officially classified as "romance", but there really isn't much, or it's at least very soft, and quite disappointing. But whatever.
- smut - as urban dictionary states: yummy erotic fiction or art.
Probably Getting Pretty Inane By Now Classifications:
- bishie(s) - reserved for all the drop dead gorgeous bishounens. <3
- animals - it includes animals. Could be something like Fruits Basket, or even something more literal like By Hero.
- sweet - for the mangas that are just really ... sweet. For example, Dengeki Daisy.
- asa - absolutely stunning art.
- raa - really annoying art. This is likely to simply be my tastes, but even if the manga was epic, the art was still disasterously irratating.
- BADOU - my delicious Badou Nails is somewhere in here. <33
- ongoing - for the series with an ongoing scanlation status, so I'm freaking anxiously very patiently awaiting more chapters.
