Best of 2008
Well, I only just started watching anime in the beginning of 2008, and didn't start following seasons till half-way through 2008, but I wanted to choose out what ones were my favorites in a few categories.
Favorite Comedy: Clannad.
This one was hard for me, with so many good comedy shows out there, but it basically came down to Kannagi and Clannad in the end, and I remember Clannad leaving me in stitches, while Kannagi was nothing too special. So Clannad for sure.
Favorite Action: Shakugan no Shana II
I'm not usually a big fan of action anime, so I don't usually watch a whole bunch. I randomly ran into Shakugan no Shana on a streaming site, and got hooked with it. It has really awesome action, and was an entertaining anime. It was either this or Ga-Rei Zero for best action, and this one was much better.
Favorite Romance: Itazura na Kiss
This anime was so amazing, I currently have it on my favorites list. This kept me on the edge of my seat, absolutely dying for more after each episode. Nogizaka Haruka was good as well, but that one was a little different and didn't seem as good on the romantic aspect as this one did. Actually, there is an anime which is better than this, Clannad ~After Story~ is an amazing romance so far, but it doesn't finish till around March in 2009, so it can't compete till then.
Favorite Drama: Vampire Knight Guilty
I must say, I was surprised with Vampire Knight. It didn't start off too well, but it soon turned into something really good. I feel like the second season was better than the first.
Favorite Psychological: Chaos;Head
This show was quite good. I'm a big fan of psychological, and that's what drew me into this show. It was entertaining, and definitely gave you your psychological fix.
Biggest Surprise: The Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk
I picked this one up, not expecting a whole lot from it, and was easily hooked with false hopes on the first episode. My hopes, though wrongly placed, were definitely satisfied with the way the anime went from there, though. This anime turned into one of my favorite animes of the year, with great drama, and a surprise ending. Glad I picked this one up.
Most Dissapointing: Yozakura Quartet
I picked this one up with high hopes, mainly because I was a fan of the artist who drew the characters. This one turned out to be a pretty boring anime, with no real surprises or anything making it stand out, other than the art.
Most Anticipated Anime of 2009: Trigun Movie
I had to pick this, Trigun is my absolute favorite anime, and it the sole reason why I got into anime. The more info that gets leaked about it, the more I'm dying to see it. I foresee this doing really well.
Anime to look out for in 2009:
Clannad ~After Story~: Absolutely amazing so far
Toaru Majutsu no Index: Really surprised with how exciting this is
Fullmetal Alchemist: It's Fullmetal Alchemist, need I say more
Skip Beat: This one is funny, as well as really entertaining
Maria Holic: Hot trap and a perverted lesbian... this is gunna be entertaining
