Anime Relations: Getsumen to Heiki Mina
So, it finally comes to a close, over a year later. ^^;

This is a series that aired in the beginning of 2007, however, for whatever reasons, had very little subbing interest. Only one group did past the first episode, but they had many issues getting things done, thus the last episode was only just released, over 14 months after it aired.

Anyway, this is a cute, silly and funny series. I enjoyed it from the very start, and through to the end. The parodies, the absurdity, and just the premise of the story itself all appeal to me as a fan of comedy, kemonomimi and SF.

Story-wise, it actually stands up on its own reasonably well for a spin-off, play within a play type deal it originally was. Even if the premise is absurd, with Usamimis protecting Earth's sports from alien intervention, it actually turned out to be a rather solid series with an enjoyable story (as long as you like cute comedy.)

The animation is fairly average for modern standards, though the guys will probably appreciate the amount of cleavage and big bouncy breasts the Usa girls have. There was some shortcuts taken, which is usual really. Also the character design suffered some inconsistency from time to time, but I imagine the budget was reasonably low, so they did well considering.

Sound: Stunning. Very catchy OP and ED, the OST was enjoyable, and the voice cast is pretty much all-star. The use of music was excellent, and everybody played their characters beautifully. Absolute 10 out of 10 for the sound/voices here.

Characters were cute. I'm a huge fan of kemonomimis, so this show being full of Usamimis wins by default, however the characters here really are cute, especially Mina, the main char. But all the other girls are awesome, and there's some amusing guys too. :D Very well characterised, and I think there was quite reasonable development for a mere 11 episode run, from a play within a play. Three thumbs up.

Overall, I give it a 8, because it's not really anything -special- story wise, and the art is average, but cute characters and great music+voices give it some points. Very enjoyable show on its own merits, but not really masterpiece material or anything. It'd help if you're an Usamimi fan, but I think anybody can enjoy this show for what it is: a cute parody/comedy with a little bit of super-hero usamimi action. ^^
