Both are short movies based on fairy tales (Grimm fairy tales/Chinese legend). Both have similar stop-motion animation done with dools. Both have same director and similar storytelling style.

Both are short anime about master archers. While To Shoot Without Shooting is more historical, Kaichuu is more comedy.

"Your Lie in April" / "Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso" and "To Shoot Without Shooting" / "Fusha no Sha" both involve a lead character who is exremely talented in the art they practice, which are playing the violin and archery respectively. These two characters are shown to be able to conjure an imaginary instrument with the capabilities of the actual item though their sheer resolve, whether for playing music or for sharpshooting.
