Both adapts the fairy tales of Brother Grimm. While Grimm Masterpiece Theater keeps closer to the original and is for kids while Yonimo Osoroshii Grimm Douwa adapts is in horror, even dementia way.

Both take otherwise fairly well know stories (Village Doctor by Franz Kafka, Fairy Tales by Grimm brothers) and remake them into something weird and creepy. Both are dementia and psychological genre and both have irregular animation.
