Light-hearted story about magical girls doing beautiful and magical things suddenly turned into a traumatic experience as they learn more and more about the dark truth of behind the true purpose of becoming "magical girls". Desperation arises as these girls face the threat of loosing their lives through the process. Even if both the series have a similar setting like this, Madoka Magica is more of a psychological roller-coaster ride playing with the viewers' mental state, while Ikusei Keikaku has a thriller story about a hunger-games or battle-royale among these girls with bloodfest every now and then.

dark magical girl series where the main characters have to fight each others for their lives and that touches deep topics

As soon as I started watching Magical Girl Raising Project, I noticed some similarity to Mirai Nikki. -Both are about survival games.

Basically the same "must kill" setting, one with magical girls, the other one in a school. Major difference is that in danganronpa they have to find the killer. It was expectable to have some similarities, since they're made by the same studio.

This is pretty similar in quite a lot of ways: - The way they transform - Magical Girls - Darkened core (have to see more to understand) - Light hearted in some areas Even though I have only watched one episode so far of Ikusei - this is just making me think of Yuuki Yuuna way too much. Similar in settings. Would recommend Yuuki.

Both are anime series about magical girls, but with a dark twist. In both series they make deals to be magical girls (or "Selectors/Eternal Girls" in WIXOSS case") with special powers, but then there turns out to be a catch that they didn't know about when they signed up for it.

Another dark magical girl anime with girl vs girl action, blood and sacrifice. Both have compelling plots and a lot going for them. Though they are both along the lines of magical girl tragedy each offers a unique twist. Day Break Illusion explores manipulating the magic if tarot cards while Magical Girl Rising Project explores the possibility that not only can little girls become magical girls, but full grown women, and even men can as well! I love both and reccomend either full-heartedly.

In this two shows, we have served with "Cute girl trapped in cruel game" On this side, we have cute girl trying to get survived from zombies apocalyptic And other side, we have cute girl being involved in a death match "Battle Royale" theme, and transform into their RPG Character as 'Mahou Shoujo' Both are from same studio, and similar Introduction ..

Both involve characters that download a mobile game that ends up turning into a real world survival game. Both characters are given powers through this game.

Bloody battle royales between many superpowered characters. In both anime, many characters die, sometimes gruesomely. Both battle royales are organized by shady governments. Juuni Taisen's participants are representatives of the 12 Zodiac signs, while Ikusei Keikaku's are 16 magical girls who need to kill each other because their number need to be reduced. Both are action-oriented and dark.

All-girl survival games with yuri undertones.

Both anime involve girls with magical powers (and in Granbelm, mechs too) who fight against each other to be the winner of a competition. They also both get progressively darker. They both have action, however, Magical Girl Raising Project has a lot more blood and gore

I feel like every season has an an anime where there's a "game" and only one person can win everyone else dies- If you like watching death left and right and never getting attached to a character but love to watch the world burn this is for you lol. - both use the - only one person can "Survive" - both continue/repeat the death game/cycle over and over again - both show the evil sadistic side of characters that seem innocent on the outside.

They have a similar progression throughout. Starting from a sort of practice game in the beginning to finding itself trailing down a darker path as the series progresses. -Both series have several people caught up in an event motivated by someone with a specific goal.

In both Anime, the characters who are mostly children get involved in some kind of game without knowing the serious consequences, and in both shows the kids are not necessarily friends or don't become ones (which makes them different from MadoMagi & YuYuYu and others)

Both anime are a survival game with interesting and different characters, strategic plans, fights, alliances, and a little gore.

Death match, find the traitor deal. Except Ikusei won't disappoint.

Both shows contain Magical Girls which are responsable for the different areas in the country

both shows shown some similarities including that they are from the same studio they are also about a survival game with a black and white creature that is virtual (because monokuma didn't actually show of physiclly) an item they must have in order to survive (candies and NG Code Bracelet).

Two series, where applications form an important part at the beginning and end of the plot. A phone application gives people a chance to gain power (in MS Ikusei Keikaku is to be a real magic girl and in DevilS2 is to summon demons). This puts at risk our protagonists and humanity because of the gravity of the power they acquired where the ideal is to survive. Despite the doubts of the prota he must use his power to help the needy.

-Both take place in a game. -Have a similar idea: If dying in the game dies in real life too

Bishoujo Mobage and Mahou Shojo Ikusei are about cute girls gaining magical powers from a mobile game, though Mahou Shoujo is much darker.

Both qualify as magical girl shows. Both have a TON of characters, way more than can be fully fleshed out and kept track of in the number of episodes given, but it does make things interesting. Both start off slow but have epic, action-packed battles in the 2nd half of the show.

"Magical Girls" forced into a battle royale death game type of thing where they have to fight to the death until only one is left standing.

Both anime have a cute, lighthearted start, but then get progressively darker (fear, anxiety, depression, death, etc.). The main character goes through a lot of hardship, yet still perseveres through it, trying to stop bad things from happening.

Rozen Maiden season 1 and season 2 and Magical Girl Raising Project are both similar in that they involve magical girls who have to compete against each other. Raising Project has a lot more violence and blood, but both shows get darker and more dramatic as they progress. Recommended if you like survival anime shows with girls!

Both animes have murders that are shocking. Both maintain high suspense.

Both Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku and Akame Ga Kill are anime that have a very dark central theme. Death is prevalent both and often angers watchers as terrible things happen to good characters in both anime. If you enjoyed the death in one, you will enjoy the death in the other. But Akame ga Kill is more story driven than Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku.

While the storylines are different, both anime start out as a competition between magical girls, but turn into something deeper and darker. They both have a lot of action, although Raising Project has a lot more blood and gore.

Two series with differences of audence, of execution and perspective. Both show us a girl with a big heart who receives a power, which she should use for the good and also to collect cards / points, following the orders of a magical being. The thing gets complicated when she is constantly in trouble, but, all that happens to make a test of a greater power that can get their hands. The question is: Will be able to do this mission? The most notable differences are that in CCS, there is not much risk, and in MS Ikusei they can lose their lives.

Both of these shows are very dark, violent and bloody also they are both about magical girls.

We can appreciate these similarities: - People who are chosen from millions, have the opportunity of their lives. But to enjoy that opportunity you must earn points, even if that means ending someone else's life. - A survival game, where they put the future of the person in play, which have a power that can be beneficial for others and for itself. - We can also appreciate the lives of the people who participate, who needed this power, to help themselves with their lives.
