Both of these titles deal with a fluffy cute young character, who leaves homes and is forced to battle the harsh reality of the outside world

Features sweet animation styles with heartwarming interactions between different species. These anime effectively manage darker elements to bring about touching themes of love, kindness, and forgiveness.

The Little Name reminded me of Unico and the West Wind because of the unicorn, the female lead and the cloud. The lyrics of the music video also fits Unico's plot.

Both anime are about kindhearted mythical creatures and their adventures and their battle against evil of some sort. Both also show the interaction of these creatures with normal human beings and are aimed at younger audience.

Both are very cute children's movies, but have the weirdness you sometimes get with 70's anime (despite Xiao Qian being made in '97). Ahiru reminds me of Katy in the Fantastic Adventures of Unico. Both characters are animals turned into girls (Katy was a cat) and they both have a tendancy to be clumsy and show their animal tendancies-- especially when they are nervous in front of the Baron and the Prince.

Both feature a kitten who wants to become human. Katy (Chao) wants to become a human girl so she can become a witch (Unico). Chibi-Neko wants to become a human girl so she can be with the boy who took her in after she was abandoned (The Star of Cottonland).

Somehow watching Yohko always made me think of Chao/Katy and the Baron Ghost. Maybe it was the whole slipping her roofies and chaining her to a spire thing? Of course, Unico is a much cuter and more innocent anime.
