Hijikata Toshizou: Shiro no Kiseki

Both are historical portrayals of the Shinsengumi. While Peace Maker's historical value is somewhat ruined for the sake of entertainment, it still contains a few history lessons. Shiro no Kiseki, however, offers a very good insight into the life of Hijikata Toshizo, the demon vice commander of the Shinsengumi, and seems to be quite accurate. It doesn't only show us his Shinsengumi days, but also follows the rest of his life all the way up to his death. Both are a must see for anyone wanting to learn about the Shinsengumi. The same characters and settings also appear in both, so it's nice to see how people interpret them differently. read more
