Both feature an enormously overpowered student council.

They both involve a student council and issues with a lot of girls. Plus the art styles are pretty similar.

Kujibiki Unbalance is basically poor man's Haruhi Suzumyia...but they're both very simmilar *the action takes place in a school where lots of weird stuff happens *both shows exagerate when it comes to realism *the characters are very much alike: Kyon=Chihiro Haruhi=Renko+Tokino Nagato=Ritsuko Mikuru=Yamada *In the melancholy we see Haruhi abusing Mikuru,in Kujibiki we see Renko abusing Yamada *both also share the same genres:action, drama, comedy, school, sclice of life concluding...if you liked the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumyia there's a big chance that you'll like Kujibiki Unbalance

Both feature a cast of characters ranging from strange to deranged. Especially the student council president has striking similarities (from popularity to power). Kujibiki Unbalance as a part of the Genshiken Universe is a little more serious than Hayate no Gotoku and somewhat retro, but nevertheless entertaining.
