How can they make countless sequels without being Dragon Ball or Pokemon? By being genuinely funny and stay true to the audience, of course. Anime revenue comes a lot from ads, but a lot more from DVD, Blu Ray, and even miscellaneous goods like figurine (not the case with this two though). This two show release constant stream of stuff that are, guaranteed, to have some niche buying their DVDs. No marketing magic here, just being constant and know your own niche. Beside similarities that are marketing-related, stuffs like THE FEEL IS SIMILAR, THEY BOTH HAVE GIRLS IN IT, are being repeated for eternity in recommendation area  read more

This is related because both shows are extremely relaxing to watch. It's comedy but it doesn't just focus on that, it's the extremely likeable characters that stand out. So if you had a bad day or just want to relax from some sad Anime or one with a lot of Action, this one should be a good watch. (This does also inculde every other season of Aria or Hidamari Sketch)

A marketing reminder that TV shows can have as much seasons as they want if: - They have clear, specific and devoting target market, (or broad, countrywide, audiences, aka. everyone, which these two are not) - They keep up with their original theme, but also adapt to seasonal theme. (Swimsuit episode, valentine episode, christmas episode, etc) Japanese shows do this very well. - Their first season did well, but following season did even better, and keep improving. If the following season do worse, the shows are destined to end, most of the time.
