Short, intense, dark in tone, visually stunning (often surrealist), god tier soundtracks, plot twists and an increasingly fucked up story with a majestic conclusion.
Both are dark toned themed supernatural related series that are easily finishable in a single watchthrough as well as alot of bloody violence and shocking moments in it and alot of insanity going on in the story as well too.

both series are very graphic. main character is forced to accept supernatural powers and fight against enemies of humanity. there's certain parallels in dynamics between akira & ryo and homura & madoka, including implied romantic interest. both ryo and homura are stuck in a time loop.
They're both building up to such an insane twist. Devils and Devilman are similar to witches and magical girls. I dont want to spoil too much, just watch and see for yourself.
