if shinji wasn't Shinji then he would have smashed asuka or at least tried to play with her when they were sleeping in the same bed. then he would have definitely smashed her when they kissed cause asuka was almost depressed when her crush left and Shinji would use that opportunity to bang her. then there were so many opportunities where he could have banged her and she won't even mind it if he just pushed her a little bit. like bang bang bang bang each episode.

Sorry to point this out but that's the personality of the average noble scumbag that appears in the middle of most shows , but on the other hand there days that type of

it whouldn't even be Eva anymore, it's supposed to represent addictions, the impulsivity, depression, probably a lot of other themes, we need Shinji in the story to make it work for it's purpose.
