The Stop-Motion Animation Appreciation Society

Information
Welcome to The Stop-Motion Animation Appreciation Society. This is a place for anyone who enjoys stop-motion animation or is interested in stop-motion animation techniques. We also research Japanese and Korean stop-motion animation so it can be added to MAL's database. The club spreadsheet for anime relations provides more information on types of stop-motion and legal sources.

Ah yes, I see, it does look like stop motion in Guskov. But it's such a short clip in a long movie that I'll have to consider it. It's difficult to decide how much SMA there needs to be for a title to be interesting to club members, but if it's less than 10% of the running time, then it might not qualify.

Nekome Kozou does look like it was made with paper cutouts, but they're hardly moving, the movement effect looks like it was either someone moving it live or just the camera. It doesn't have that slightly unsteady feel of stop-motion, so I believe it wasn't shot frame by frame.

In Guskov the Stop Motion part is around 57 - 58 min mark. Also about Nekome Kozou if im not mistaken the series is done with Paper cutouts as characters im not sure if that fits here but thats atleast what it looks like to me.

Most of those seem to have live action rather than stop-motion. I didn't find the stop-motion part in Guskou Budori no Denki, but I'll have a better look later when I have time. Kyouryuu Tankentai Born Free did have stop-motion in the dinosaur movements, so I'll add it to the relations.

Club spreadsheet for anime relations. I was pretty surprised that most of the entries are available on youtube or equivalent sites, but I guess it's because so much of it is non-commercial or simply old.
