A mysterious being introduced in the series as the one who distributes boxes.
O has no set appearance, instead, forming the image of everyone, yet resembling no one. However, O has been known to take on the shape of both humans and other objects. Gender-wise, O is neutral, being both male and female. Although this coincides with O not being able to distinguish between humans, the majority of the characters refer to O with 'he' or 'him'.
In the Rejecting Classroom, she impersonated Haruaki in order to observe Hoshino from up close.
In the Sevennight in Mud, she impersonated Riko Asami in order to observe Hoshino.
Maria has an older sister, Aya Otonashi, and she is the complete opposite of herself. When her family died in an accident, she shouldered the burden herself along with the dark sins.
It is revealed that "O" is a creation of Maria's wish and that the name "O" comes from "Otonashi Aya".
