Surreally hilarious (and hilariously surreal) slice-of-life series about allegedy normal life at all-boys high schools.
report Recommended by lithiumflower
Similar comedy style and length, bursts of hilarious moments throughout each episode of each series.
report Recommended by Chicken008
Their sense of humor is pretty similar. If you enjoyed either of them, you will definitely like the other one as well.
report Recommended by koffin
Both are surreal and over-the-top high school comedies with very similar tone and comedic timing. Sakamoto would have fit right in if he transferred to Cromartie High.
report Recommended by GyroNinja
Both series deal with a lot of random comedy and series of mis-adventures. They share the same kind of characters with the same level of stupidity.
report Recommended by Xadyu3000
Both awesome animes/mangas both are school life/comedy, laughed my ass off when i watched both of em :)
report Recommended by hazte
Both have a school full of delinquents, a Freddie and lots of comedy.
report Recommended by vigil
High-school comedies, quite parodic, with "alien" characters. Psi seems to have Cromartie references, such as Nindou and the guy twitching his hair... So far, I prefer Cromartie. It's definitely more manly too.
report Recommended by Roruman
They both have a similar type of random humor. Zetsubou Sensei is faster paced however and Cromartie relies more on timing with its humor and makes fun of all the high school delinquent anime stereotypes. If you found one funny you'll probably enjoy the other as well.
report Recommended by Danish
The anime is set in a school environment just like Nichijou and also has crazy things that happen at the school.
report Recommended by Rance-sama
Very different styles and types of humour, yet similar in their simplicity, non-sequitors, and nonsensical randomness. They use both slapstick and wit at times and are genuinely funny. While Azumanga has nearly an all female cast, Cromartie is all male.
report Recommended by X-ATMO92
Both have a class filled with problems! Both are enjoyable to watch and are hilarious at the same time! I reccomend both.
report Recommended by animefreak8889
Both are extremely funny. One is about a delinquent school and the other about a freeter.
report Recommended by heyyou15
On top of both anime's consisting of 10 minutes of truely random and daft material, they share a number of key ellements... A young, normal person in a professional setting has no choice but to adjust to their new life - co-oporating with highly odd individuals whilst in the centre of obscure situation. Neither rely on what many of us are use to seeing in comedy anime - they don't rely on; bishounen's, the passive wimps, tsundere's, moe's and general harems situations - some of the plots are simple and realistic to some degree.

Arakawa is about a rational guy trying to adapt to the ridiculous lifestyle of crazy people under a bridge. Cromartie is about a rational guy trying to adapt to the ridiculous lifestyle of a deranged high school. Both are filled with hilarious characters that range from seemingly normal people to gangsta robots. Each series is a chaotic ride full of randomness upon randomness upon randomness.
report Recommended by WAXCHUG
Both are delinquent comedies.
report Recommended by Lokilawl
both series have an all-male class, and a class of deliquents
report Recommended by mrpogi91
The styles for these Anime is rough around the edges, which helps to emphasize the fact both series deal with societal rejects. One takes place in high school while the other ends up involving adults, yet there is major levels of crazy going on with the plot.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
The random stupid humor is astounding. . . . . .and humorous. . .
report Recommended by RecursiveGreen
Similar drawing style, also takes place in a high school setting and similar in absurdity and wackiness.
report Recommended by mikaz
Both animes happen in the schools, and there're some funny stuff, which is some time really stupid. Some difference is that Most of lucky star character are girls, but Cromartie are boys. Lucky * Star also doesn't have golilars or robot likes Cromarties High School.
report Recommended by unknowdata
Both are senseless comedy with little logic or plot, that leave you thinking "Wait.. What?" Excel Saga has more of a hyperactive feel to it, though.
report Recommended by FukouDa
Gag Manga Biyori doesn't make much sense and neither does Cromartie High School. Both shows seems similiar in the way they are animated. Gag Manga is still a bit more random since there is no exact storyline unlike Cromartie High School. Cromartie High School still has main characters. Gag Manga has a couple of returning characters but mostly is new poeple in every episodes. Both are weird, strange and leaves your mind broken...

Ishida to Asakura and Sakigake!! Cromartie Koukou are abnormally hilarious and crazy anime. If you want to get high using legal (anime) drugs, both of them will provide you with a fresh and decent dose. Also, these shows feature rough and serious-looking guys who do or talk about incredibly stupid things. I must say that in my opinion, Cromartie is much more random and funny than Ishida to Asakura, but the later is definitely worth a watch, if you like gag humor and randomness.
report Recommended by Kamakirisaku
Both are crazy comedies with old animation style. Both take common theme (deliquent/time-travelling) and make fun of it while being random.
report Recommended by abystoma2
Okay... this might be a wacky recommendation, but I kind of think you'd like one if you like the other. They're both slice of life comedies that focus on absurd and hilarious exaggerations of mundane events in clever and surprising ways. Sure, one is about sisters and the other is about delinquents, but still... maybe you'd like it?

While the anime itself are different, they have something common: the Queen. While Freddie from Sakigake!! Cromartie Koukou is clearly modelled after Freddie Mercury, Bohemian Rhapsody is a music video for Queens song Bohemian Rhapsody, so I´m sure any Queen fan will enjoy both of these anime.
report Recommended by abystoma2
Both are half-episode based series with the same type of quick witted humor as one another for a quick yet very good laugh.
report Recommended by TallonKarrde23
Both series is full with stupidity humor and random comedy joke.
report Recommended by Ruzu
They both have a similar style of humor. At some point, both make fun of the fact that they have been adapted from manga. Most of the jokes are dialogue based, but they both have very good visual jokes as well. Cromartie focuses a lot on putting the characters in various, strange situations; however, Joshiraku does the same with its dialogue. The main difference between the two would be that Joshiraku has an all-female main cast and Cromartie is all-male cast. Also, Cromartie takes place in a High School while Joshiraku in a Rakugo Theater. However, this doesn't make much of a difference because it  read more

Both are ridiculous comedies. One about silly girls the other about silly delinquent boys. Very different premises, but I truly think if you like one that you'll like the other as well.
report Recommended by Azrita
These two shows share a number of similarities: they are both short, gag anime and are both set in school. Both protagonists are also often at odds with their surroundings.
report Recommended by TechnoTrout
Both are absurdist, surreal comedies featuring a unisex cast in a school setting. I like to imagine Asobi Asobase personified as Cromartie High's little punk sister. Asobi Asobase tends to prefers high energy humor while Cromartie High, which is by no means slow paced, will occasionally play the long game with their jokes. Visual humor is prominent in both shows, with particular emphasis placed on absurd facial expressions. Side Note: If you do plan on watching Cromartie High School, I would highly, HIGHLY, recommend the english dub. I don't think Asobi Asobase has or will get an english dub, but that doesn't matter as the  read more

I can't believe how nobody has made the comparison already. Onara Gorou contains lots of deadpan humour, barely has animation and it even shares some of those still character angles when they talk, which could probably be a reference. Also episodes are short and contain diverse random situations.
report Recommended by Nordaviento
Fast-paced comedies that you never know what they'll throw at you. Also there's a robot.
report Recommended by Spagfunk
epic poses references to bands and music artists random at times
report Recommended by male_humanoid
-both are great comedies -episodic structures -simmilar level of absurd humor and breaking the 4th wall -diverge casts of characters
report Recommended by cupofdepresso
The common factors uniting these two anime: meta-humor, absurdity, gags, the use short skits in lieu af a plot, clever use of shoddy editing and subpar animation for comedic effect.
report Recommended by Dewelleric
Both are great series that revolve around delinquents and comedy. Kyou Kara Ore Wa has more fights while Cromartie High School is completely focused on humor.
report Recommended by THEAnimeHERO
The similarities are very apparent if you've seen both. This is basically Cro High in space. Comedic Timing Absurd and Care-free Plots The dub actors took liberty with the script Length of Episodes

Sousuke in Fumoffu instantly reminded of the kind of humor you would see in Cromartie Highschool. If you're itching for more anime like Cromartie, Fumoffu might be the show for you, and vice versa.
report Recommended by haydenluvsanime
Both have absurd comedy that will shatter your expectations. You never know what each episode will bring. Olympia is much more "random" with it's humor, often using real-world stock videos, but I found both to be equally enjoyable. If you like one, you will very likely also like the other.
report Recommended by Xaeveax
Random, episodic, and funny. These two series are among my top picks for the best comedies out there. Prepare for an epic ride of strangeness and parody.
report Recommended by WAXCHUG
both are short comedies with same pace and brutal-looking guys. the protagonists are similar in their characters, both are serious and always reason about smth
report Recommended by SuperSamos
Not only as funny as Cromartie but it actually has a storyline; that doesn't really matter in this kind of anime. The ending song is going to control your mind and make you fall in love of dancing Mink with its little boots.
report Recommended by susonauta
Similar stile of humor.
report Recommended by Dille
both hilarious, ping pong club is more lewd and toiler humor though
report Recommended by metrocide
Gag Manga Biyori 2 is just like the original show. Doesn't make sense, weird, strange in everyway and impossible to understand. If you liked Cromartie High School then I can guarantee that you find both Gag Manga Biyori 2 and the original really great!
report Recommended by Ranzkin
Insanity and Non-Sequitor humor at its best. Both shows are extremely fast, up to the point that you may have to pause several times in order to give you a moment to laugh out loud and/or go "what the heck? o.O" Also note that Puni Puni Poemi is, unlike Cromartie High School, really really ecchi.
report Recommended by Tharghos
Cromartie High School is a parody of Osu!! Karate Bu, I can't believe no one made this recommendation before.
report Recommended by grklein
Both short series feature similar type of humor and simple ans short visual gags. While Sakigake! is all about boys delinquents, Gakuen Handsome jokes about a different aspect of being in a all-boys high school. Art style of both anime also sets a scene that resembles one another.
report Recommended by Halettan
They both have strage style, when sometimes you don't even understand what's going on.

Both anime show criminals. Both anime have dark and rough humour. Both anime have similar style of art/animation.

Both gag anime both have similar art style

Class members VERY similar. Humor similar. Madness similar.

Both are incredibly random.

Style of comedy is absurdism. Has one logical character, while the rest are absurd. In the sense it's like a comedy duo, one "straight man", while everyone else is bonkers. The settings are vastly different, but it makes no difference. Since mainly where the story is set is rarely used as the setup for the joke, rather than that it is just a stage. Jungle wa Itsumo Hare nochi Guu is closer to a comedy duo, as it focuses mainly on Hare (straight man) and Guu. It's comedy is on it's 'Saturday cartoonish' aspect of weird things happening. Cromartie High is based in a delinquent high school, which seems to  read more

Same author, so similar style of humour with the punchline coming at the very end. Both are shorter than normal anime, too (4 or 12 min.)
report Recommended by mendo931
Both animes are totally random and hilarious! Yondemasu yo, Azazel-san does add a supernatural touch to the whole show where Cromartie adds a delinquent touch to it.
