meant to be read after part 6

nisioisin is able to take the boring, formulaic journey of part 3 and twist it into a struggle against fate from a now sympathetic legendary antagonist. through really fluid writing, this recap of parts 1, 3 and some of 6 manages to be really gripping, plus all the new insights on dio's character made me like him even more. also made me like part 3 more, as it made sense of a lot of things that seemed like plot holes.

absolutely worse than chapter 1 of the manga, which is great, right, that, it, was, able, to, improve so much in time for serialization. Not worth reading, really. Just watch the anime, or read the manga, or rewatch the anime, or reread the manga.

i absolutely love the artwork, and while there's still a lot to gain from the extra details/meticulousness of the original, it's a great version of the work

i'd recommend reading v1 before this, and all of zaregoto is required (or at the very least up to v6), but this is the easiest way to get into ningen

doesn't quite fit my image of some the characters, but adds a lot to the majority of them

the first story is probably the only one i like better in novel form than in the manga, while magashiki and shiori suffer the most in terms of characterization, clashing with how i envisioned them
