Seeing as this manga might not finish too soon I decided to rate it from how I feel atm from last chapter (ch378) and ngl fear & hunger made me finally start reading this in fall 2024

A couple clucking chickens were still kickin' in the schoolyard: Interesting start of Fujimoto's short stories. Even back in 2011 did he have the classical dark, disturbing and monsterous drawings and story telling he still does today in chainsaw man. Its a short story and there isn't much deep too it but the artwork is good and the twist of Yuto I hadn't seen coming. The idea of aliens killing and eating humans might be the same as humans killing and eating cows etc is a take I have seen many times but is still welcomed. My stand on it is that the difference is intelligence and speech. If an animal talked like us humans and had the same intelligence at the same time more would be disturbed to eat them and the aliens should possibly consider that fact.
Sasaki stopped a bullet: An interesting short story. The idea of there is no zero percent chance is quite lovely. I mean I haven't thought like that but it is nice. I forgot the name of the short story considering I was surprised when Sasaki well.. stopped a bullet. But it was sweet. I like that he made it to the moon. But was that teacher actually a god or not? I wonder.
Love is blind: Aah a romance story of a boy who will confess his love to the girl he likes no matter the treat. Not even alien invasion with the threat of destroying the Earth could stop him. I find it even more hilarious that Fujimoto only made this because his editor told him he writes too long stories that could really be accomplished in sixteen pages instead so he writes a story with exactly sixteen pages. Respect to Fujimoto. It was short and sweet and funny. Good work.
Shikaku: This story was actually pretty good. I definitely enjoy the whole vampire thing of I have been alive for thousands of years and I just want to die. Immortal beings that are bored of life is so interesting. If I wrote the story I would have kept him wanting to die and let him die at the end but I do like the twist of the twisted assassin falling for him and he gets a good laugh from her insanity. Love blossomed and he didn't have to be bored anymore thanks to her. Actually quite lovely. It was a nice one shot.

Mermaid rhapsody: Kind of the weakest and most boring story I have read of Fujimoto. Which makes sense when you found out he only wrote this to prove his editor wrong that he in truth can actually write "normal" stories. Which this one felt normal. And incredibly boring. I was expecting darker things with the mermaids and all but it is what it is. I don't have a lot to say about this one.
Woke-up-as-a-girl syndrome: Just a story about a guy being so girlish his physical body turned into a feminine one. He was still a boy on the inside. Its interesting I guess having a cisgender dude have his body turned into what would look like a cis girls. It was an odd story reading for me but it was still better than the first story with the mermaids to me.
Nayuta of the prophecy: Yet another story Fujimoto wrote to prove his editor wrong. I am starting to see a pattern. This time it was to prove to them that he can write unique characters. Nayuta certainly is a unique one. But reading this as part two of csm coming out feels a bit strange. Obviously csm Nayuta was inspired by this Nayuta but while the two Nayuta's are similar in character design they are quite different in both speech departement as well as personality. I'd argue csm Nayuta seemed a bit more similar to this Nayuta at the end of part one but now that shes older she is pretty different in every way of her act. Still this was an interesting story. I am not sure how Nayuta's brother hadn't realized she was killing animals for him to eat until the end though because that was one of my first thoughts. But it was a unique short story about two siblings and the older brother coming to understand his sister. This one was pretty good imho.
Sisters: Fujimoto is a weird man making a character painting her older sister nude. I mean it is really weird and I don't exactly get the point of the story when that is the result. It'd be a sweeter sister story if that wasn't the plot.

There was a looot of boobs in it

For what it is it is almost a masterpiece. It does answer a lot of questions. Yet I still feel confused with my lil pea brain..

It was pretty average. Nothing actually special. It was enjoyable for what it was but the first chapter dragged out for way too long. The best story was the third one with Aki and Himeno tbh. And I don't even like Himeno.

Takumi was silly. I liked him. The manga wasn't too good otherwise

I did not see the Ryoko plot twist coming when I first read. I still love her though and she did nothing wrong

I wanted more of it. If it wasn't a oneshot I probably would have rated it higher

Only read it for Akira and Ryo. I also like Miki but she didn't have much of a personality after Akira became Devilman :(

Pure fanservice content that tries to have an actual "story." Loli characters, incest and all that other yucky shit. Plus that end was just bad. Tried a little too hard to be different from the source material. Straight "Ryo" will haunt me forever.

Genuinely the worst manga I have ever read. Disgusting and unecessary content.

Only fun to read as a Devilman fan but otherwise wasn't all that good

Unfortunately I was not able to read all of the volumes due to English fan translations only going up to vol10 ch81. I was able to find people discussing the ending but I will probably never have the full story. What I did see however was much better than any other Devilman story. The characters and story is better written. Overall decent.

Fujimoto always knows how to write a great story. Thank you, Fujimoto. I loved the nihilism. Also shoutout to my trans homie <3

Painfully overrated full of dumb tropes. It is only a 2 because the mc stayed loyal to his wife.

Honestly the only good part about pt1 is Dio's over the top ass and how he goes from hating Jonathan Joestar to wanting to become one with him otherwise its such a basic boring story about strong men flexing, looking gay and kinda crying sometimes

The very problematic part where a jojo befriends a bunch of n@zis for no good reason and I get uncomfortable. Otherwise Joseph is a funny guy

I read it after the first season and read as the last chapter came out online in English. And I always cry at one specific scene in the ending arc. Good manga even if the ending was rushed. Genya is best boy

It was fun to read as a kny fan but I take the canonness of it with a grain of salt. Still it was a fun short read

Genya deserves a lot better. The switches between first and third perspective in the same story confused me however and also when it randomly switched to another persons perspective entirely. Still a nice read. I think it had better stories than the first of these books.

It was a fun read. But academy Zenitsu was getting so disrespected in that one chapter. F.

It was interesting to see Rengoku like that. Rengoku deserved more time in the series overall but I take what I can get

Something I highly respect Fujimoto for is his ability to draw out so much meaning and emotions in his art and overall storytelling. Look Back does exactly that. Everything fits well together. The scenes with Fujino skipping through the rain after being seen by Kyomoto, yet not quite looking happy. There is so much emotion in everything. It speaks so much even when there are no words. The theme of regret hits hard too. The manga has this lonely wrong feeling and regret that I can't quite put into place but fits so well. It was beautiful.

What I learned from this is that Go Nagai really LOVES bible fanfic! I'm starting to see a theme!

Can't we just all agree that the story is fun? Nevermind the gays (who I do also love.)

I don't think that I am smart enough to properly understand this book in all honesty. But it did make me think about living behind a screen your whole life and forgetting yourself. Or how you can change how people are perceived through video. I wouldn't want to ever end up like Yuta.

An amazing manga with some problems but a genius story with shocking story elements.

I bought a second hand Swedish version of the first volume as a kid. (12 or probably younger tbh?) I did not like it back then. But child me had a lot of L takes. So I gave it another shot at 18..

Only cool if you like Nagito a lot

My favorite of the gay stories. Had the best written side characters too!

I loved the part where Ken Kaneki said "I am the Tokyo ghoul" and started tokyo ghouling all over the place.
Jokes aside, I think Tokyo Ghoul is a beautiful series. There are a lot of well written characters, foreshadowing, interesting story and messages. Rereading it I caught things I hadn't previously. I genuinely think this might be the best manga I have ever read. I think there is so much more to it than "edginess" as some may think. If only the anime was as good.

I highly enjoyed these three light novels. Each story was well written and interesting. It added insight to characters we already now or made up new fun characters I had joyous time reading about all the same. The ones from the original manga were so well written and in character that I forgot this was a whole other author entirely. Understanding the characters like that definitely helped these novels be as enjoyable as they were for me. Much respect.

Probably the most mid thing I have read in a long time. I can certainly see that Ishida has grown as an author and illustrator in so many ways with his work on the actual manga. Seeing the oneshot was fun but it all felt very cheap and boring. Characters didn't feel fun in the slightest. All the changes to Kaneki, Touka and Shinohara definitely put respect on their characters. I doubt I would have liked the series all too much if it went how did oneshot started out.

Seeing Arima in his youth was very cool. It wasn't a super interesting read but it was still well written enough. It was cool seeing some familiar faces from when they were younger and not just Arima.

Say whatever you want but I think Tokyo Ghoul:re was the perfect continuation. In my mind it was close to perfect. Perhaps it might not deserve a 10. I would say a 9 or 8.5 might be better but for pure enjoyment, messages and characters I just have to put it at a 10. I admit the ending wasn't the best or the ending arc was slightly rushed. Yet this series is so beautiful and so good I just can't not give it a 10/10.

I honestly liked the anime adaptation better but the manga is still nice and cute

To be completely honest I haven't read every single chapter of this series. Not even all of the volumes. Simply because not everything was translated to English online. But what I did see was well not my cup of tea to say the least. The story was too confusing with too many characters of different focuses and I barely cared for anyone. I do have to say I liked the ending simply because of Satan being back as well as Devilman/Akira. But the rest just made my head hurt or made me feel a lot of negative emotions. The fact I still rate it above 1 should be surprising. Anyway, is it just me or were Mondo and especially Tatsuma kinda gay?

Very beautiful and cute story about two girls in love. Would recommend for a simple cute romance

Way better than the anime

Had to put on hold after 1 chapter and starting ch2 idk if I even wish to continue ever. But if I do I suppose I should catch up to pt7 first. Even then this seems like such a weird crack fic. Idk it was just annoying to read and if the first chapter is already a pain I'm not sure if I want to pull through with 15 more..

I just don't care enough about this manga to continue reading it

I got the first volume for Christmas once. Had never asked for it. Had a random naked girl in it. It was fine. Never got more volumes though and didn't care to keep reading it

I read this after reading the first volume of Queen's Quality. Which isn't that smart considering the other series is the sequel. I quickly got bored though and gave up on the series as a whole

Read it before QQ Sweeper. Not my smartest move but hey I was a kid who barely understood English at the time
