Saiki Kusuo no Ψ-nan
A great adaptation of the series.
Still can't get over Saiki's voice, but few can do rapid talking better than Kamiya. It's also unexpectedly acceptable when Saiki uses quite a bit of emotion in his voice frequently, especially when surprised or irritated. Retrospectively it makes sense (since this is TV), and lets the anime stand on its own from the manga as well. Can't wait to offu any sequels this may have. |

Splendid first two episodes, brilliant final episode. Too bad about the episodes in between - as well as Ohana's character - that were needlessly irrelevant and sidetracked from what could have been a 10/10 potential, though there had been a couple of good episodes here and there. A shame of what-could-have-been. But one thing for sure, the art (background, character consistency, etc) is fantastic - it perhaps even deserves 1 point in itself (pushing the score up to a 8/10?). Art was why I first decided to catch this series anyway, so no complaints here. |

What happened to the mourning wedding? Good: Side characters/couples. The action. Soundtrack. Thank goodness for Nico as every Shrade appearance is a lol moment. |

Can't decide between 8 or 9. And there's no way there won't be some sort of sequel given that ending. When that happens, please give more screentime to Suruga. Between the two more "comic-relief" characters (though I personally don't want to view them as just that), I think Tamaki was given much more exposure. Seriously, you gotta give a sniper his feature time! 2nd season pls. Things I liked: - Art (why I watched it in the first place) - Balance of seriousness and humour, which doesn't fall flat - Battle animation - Not only is the battle animation fantastic, they have proper front & backlines, and solo combos with stringed team assists. 胸熱。 |

Great OP and ED. My only annoyance is that Yokoi's mouth is actually animated to be moving - which means she is speaking out loud - instead of doing inner-silent-tsukkomi one should have in the classroom context. In fact, this made her very irritating. The tsukkomi-ing is necessary, of course, but if you seemingly insist on making so much actual noise in the classroom, then just get found out by the teacher already. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut please. Update: Happily, this doesn't happen anymore with the newer episodes so Yokoi does proper inner-tsukkomi now. Update 2: In the end, I can't get to like Yokoi. It could be the first episode that gave me a bad impression of her, but her continual self-denial of wanting to check out Seki's activities (i.e. can't you just enjoy them without the tsundereness so that -I- can enjoy watching you), or even instances of her blaming her distraction/screwup on Seki (no, missy, why don't you reflect on yourself), single-handedly prevent me from enjoying this series fully. And I really love this kind of series - plus Seki-kun is brilliant - so this is very unfortunate. |

Giving it +1 for the background art/giantrobotthingy and the potentially great premise it had. All just wasted, really. 1. Must Aoi be made such an unbelievably irritating character? I'm sure one can be useless+have fantastic hidden strength and be likeable at the same time. They're not mutually exclusive. 2. Naruse speaks Kansai-ben without any justifiable reasons. That is not a problem in itself. But it is so unnatural I can hardly bear listening to her, which is a shame because I like her voice. Unfortunately, she is an MC and speaks a lot. At least find a native speaker to voice her? 3. Anime has bad writing. |

One of those rare series that makes you realise a show can be very entertaining, yet you just cannot vest much emotions in its characters, plot, and consequently, outcome. Laughed at certain parts in the last episode at inappropriate moments (I think). Entertainingly bad. But there really are a lot of unexplained details. It is one thing to end with sufficient clues for the wiser viewers to figure out the implications of the unexplained; it is another thing to end with plot holes in its wake. I think they tried to do the former, but it wasn't enough. If they end up going eigaka with this and actually explain some things, I may want to give the score +1. |

9.5/10 Nine and Twelve's motives are quite clear and understandable, while Five's - not so much, which dragged the series down a bit in the midpart. I remember thinking "Why on earth did you come all the way here for, do all the stuff you did, just to end up like this" in episode 10. I will simply take it that she had her eyes set on defeating Nine (the obvious target, because you never hear her talking about Twelve), as well as "protect" Nine from the FBI/Americans, in that "you are mine and only mine" yandere kind of way. Lisa. She is a cute mascot and an important plot device for Twelve's motivation, but is otherwise pretty forgettable. I'm just glad that she made a difference in Twelve's life, and came out of this stronger, because certain people could have turned out twisted just witnessing what she did in the last episode, much less throughout the entire series. Speaking of which, the ending could have skipped the US part and it'd still have ended the same way quite logically, so it only served as a bitter aftertaste. Nonetheless, my heart never stopped racing from start to finish. Along with the cinematics, I think it would in fact be more difficult to make things boring with such intelligent and technically-able MCs, plus the dash of likable police team on the side. (Wait is this Death Note?) After all things said and done, the Sphinx are remembered as just that - Sphinx, and their numbers for names. Were the names they introduced themselves as in school real? Probably not. Do they even remember their real names? Probably... yes, but they won't be remembered as such. I thought of this as the end credits roll, and it personally saddens me more than anything that actually happened onscreen. Aside, it sincerely popped into my head one episode while watching Nine - イケメン無罪. He could probably do anything and I would still love watching him. Which made the end all that more heartbreaking. --- I had waited and waited for Twelve-on-a-motorcycle to be figurine-ised. Never did. Sadness. |

The non-animation works for this series, because it doesn't distract the viewer from the story. As a result though, I also cannot give it a 10/10 as an animation. But it's definitely a 10/10 picture show. |

Whether this director meant it or not, after watching the last episode I now appreciate that they got Asanuma - a young voice and rather close to Shinkai's aka the cat in the original - to voice Daru instead of an older voice that befits Daru's age. Made the linkage even more meaningful. |

How the bad guy got beaten was a bit of an anti-climax directing-wise, but everything else was good. Tomoe-Kotetsu scenes were glittery and pretty. Nice to know how some transformations work, plus some background neta about shurikens and jetpack and etc. Sky High on those fashion advertisement billboards is worth the ticket price alone. |

First time buying a movie ticket in Japan. Already memorable in itself. And thank goodness for Ladies Day jkidfajhife movie tix in Japan are so expensive.
Even though the movie is nearing the end of its long airing period, the theatre I'm watching in is still quite full, if not completely filled. Teared up near the middle; I forgot why. Was so enamoured with grown-up Shinpachi's tsundereness(?) that I bought his figure when I came across it by chance lol. |
