| ![]() | Angel Beats! Ridiculous worldbuilding. This is supposed to be an afterlife but the characters are simply living the school-life and the only quirk is their bodies being immortal. Yes, we have a normal school with only few real people, and the rest are 'NPCs' like in some video game. That could work in a comedy, but the show is extremely serious and dramatic. While I enjoyed some backstories of certain characters, I could not immerse myself into their current struggles due to the ridiculousness of the setting. The characters are dumb, because they fight the 'angel-girl' for years due to a simple misunderstanding, yet the main character just talks to her and the issue is resolved. Whoever has written the plot for this series must have been drunk. | 4 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Another Could be better if the ending stayed faithful to the source material. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Another: The Other - Inga This episode explains the lack of emotion from the main character during the entire series. | 7 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Ayakashi Triangle | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Baccano! | 7 | TV | 13 | |||
| ![]() | Bleach I recommend to avoid fillers, except single episode fillers and that one arc about materialised Zanpakutō. | 6 | TV | 366
| ![]() | BNA Weak antagonist and side characters, questionable plot direction. I expected scenes of Michiru and her friend living in the human society again, or at least visiting it, yet we got none of that. The show only puts focus on the animal city, which was not the best plot decission in my opinion. The story background of Michiru was not properly exploited. | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Boku no Hero Academia Epic moments in this anime influence me unlike any other shounen. Part of this is soundtrack but also camera work and writing. A little wasted potential here. The show is too soft - everyone says how dangerous hero job is and how evil villains are but noone actually dies or is badly injured (especially Midorya, he always recovers easily). That breaks immersion and lessens excitement. Another problem - Uraraka character development is disappointing. One could expect more from such an important character. The show as a manga adaptiation gets progresively worse starting with season 4. | 8 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Boku no Hero Academia 2nd Season | 7 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Boku no Hero Academia 3rd Season Worse writing and less 'wow' moments that the series excels at. Especially badly written are: -Izumi -Deku vs Muscular fight -Inasa | 6 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Byousoku 5 Centimeter | 7 | Movie | 3
| ![]() | Campione! Matsurowanu Kamigami to Kamigoroshi no Maou | 6 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Charlotte The main characters attend to the school for people with powers but that fact is not depicted well - other students never use their powers, and the school looks and functions like any other school. It seems like the plot had not been very thought out before the production of this anime had started. There are pacing problems - after episode 9 the plot goes too fast, making certain narratives unconvincing. Given the mood of the first eight episodes, this show should have at least two episodes more to better space things out in the latter half. The secondary characters are badly written. Yusa and Joujirou don't contribute to anything meaningful - their only role is to create a semi-funny scene once in a while. The personalites of Ayumi and her peers felt inauthentic and unconvincing for a primary school kids. Ultimately, Yusa, Joujirou, and Ayumi are all shallow characters and the series suffers from that. This anime 'has its moments'. It has some magic here and there. But it's dragged down by the aforementioned issues and feels like the potential wasn't fully realised. But the backgrounds are gorgeous. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Choujigen Game Neptune The Animation The only interesting antagonist gets defeated at the episode 4, and hence, the show becomes boring since that point. | 4 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Bougyakusareta Tamashii no Jukyou Unreleased potential due to emitting only 4 episodes - could be much better if more source material got adapted. Too many characters for very little screen time makes impossible to familiarize with, and care about any of them. And a horror where you don't care about its characters is simply bad. | 6 | OVA | 4
| ![]() | Cowboy Bebop Nothing interesting really happens - the characters simply move from one place to another without any internal development. I also failed to understand the main plotline and the motives of the main characters, who are extremely edgy all the time (except that orange haired girl), which made it hard to sympathize with them. The ending makes no impact due to no build-up (besides some vague Spike memories). The show felt like a worse version of Samurai Champloo. | 5 | TV | 26
| ![]() | Death Note The show becomes much worse after *** ***** (ep.24). I'd prefer the episode 24 and the deleted funreal scene to be the real ending. | 7 | TV | 37
| ![]() | Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu Season 2 badly needed, the story is unfinished. | 7 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Dog Days | 4 | TV | 13 | |||
| ![]() | Elfen Lied Yuka character could have been written better. The animation is rather bad. | 8 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Ergo Proxy | 7 | TV | 23
| ![]() | Eve no Jikan | 6 | ONA | 6
| ![]() | Fairy Tail Generally, there is no plot - this anime is all about fights and emotional moments. It has an amazing soundtrack that makes this show watchable. The progression of the main plotline is non-existent until the very end of the last season. That leaves only temporal plotlines present in their individual arcs, which makes the show less exciting, but allows watching to be safely resumed at any arc without the need of knowing the preceding events. The characters are enjoyable at first, but due to hardly any personality development, they end up being shallow and predictable to death. | 5 | TV | 175

| ![]() | Gunslinger Girl | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Haibane Renmei Unconvincing main plotline. | 6 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Heion Sedai no Idaten-tachi The writing goes downhill after the episode 9 (Zomble war). The series gets overcomplicated and less engaging. There were many interesting routes the show could go after the war, but the author's writing has run out of steam. Personally, I'd like Gill to somehow gain idaten powers while keeping her human memories (maybe by jumping into the portal, and returning from it instead of her idaten counterpart). That way she could have served as a compelling dynamic between demons and idaten. | 6 | TV | 11
| ![]() | Hellsing | 4 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Could be better if the entire source material got adapted. There are some important scenes that sadly didn't get animated. Sometimes the animation is below the norm. | 8 | TV | 26
| ![]() | Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai A bit far-fetched ending - a team of professionals defeated by kids? | 8 | TV | 24

| ![]() | Hotarubi no Mori e | 7 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Houseki no Kuni Season 2 badly needed, the story is unfinished. | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Hunter x Hunter (2011) Gon is the protagonist, yet he is one of the most boring characters in the show. This is a problem since the story often revolves around him. In the later stages of the chimera ant arc he acts unnaturally and weirdly, before getting a huge temporary power-up that feels far-fetched, to say the least. That also causes one of the most interesting villains in the said arc to suffer an early and meaningless death, wasting their potential as a character. Unfortunately, Gon is not the only annoying character. There are quite a lot annoyingly "old-school", extremely one-dimensional personas that at times feel unbrearable to watch. The most interesting character - Kurapika - disappears after the first few arcs, dragging down the overall level of the anime. The ant arc and the game arc feel dragged at times. The hospital arc suffers from a drop in animation quality. | 7 | TV | 148
| ![]() | Ima, Soko ni Iru Boku The two main characters - Lalaru and Shu - drag down this show heavily. Lalaru is an extremely boring character due to her being emotionless and speechless, but gets a lot of screen time for an unknown reason. Shu, on the other hand, is extremely annoying. He is super naive, primitive, and unnaturally optimistic. Never sad or depressed, but keeps saying truisms all the time. Doesn't develop in any way either. The main antagonist also gets too much screen time given how shallow and one-directional character he is. Also, Sara's decision to not leave the world felt very unconvincing to me - why would she stay in the world that had hurt her so much, and why would she leave all her relatives, friends, hobbies, and goals in our world? | 6 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Kaiba Massive potential wasted. The journey part (the first 7 eps, excluding episode 4) is very good, but the second part where everything should get explained is almost not tied to, and not influenced by the journey part. And it also doesn't match its pace (given the pace of the first part, this show should have been longer). At the end everything goes too fast, the multitude of clones and superpowers doesn't fit the show at all, and the characters become shallow and one dimenshional. The only 'superpower' introduced in this show should have been Warp's control over memories, which gets mentioned in the episode 5. The second part of the show focuses on, and revolves around only one planet, even though it is said that Warp rules/ruled the whole universe. And the characters from the other planets that Warp had met are never mentioned again (thus they dont end up influencing the main characters at all). The world and character building greatly suffers due to all of that. Possibly the writers didn't have enough episodes left to write a satisfying second part of the story. Unfortunately, the first high quality 'arc' ends up completly irrevelant, since the plot has not been thought over properly for a 12 episode limit. A very disappointing experience. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Kara no Kyoukai Movie 7: Satsujin Kousatsu (Go) Unclear motives of the characters and unclear plot in general. There is no explanation why the characters are the way they are, and thus, nothing makes sense story-wise. Everything comes to 'Shiki is cool and badass'. The animation is pretty, but that's not enough to justify watching these movies. | 4 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Katanagatari | 7 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Kenpuu Denki Berserk A good season 2 is needed, the story is unfinished. | 6 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Kimi no Na wa. Nice art but something is wrong with the story. The beginning of the show is very enjoyable but then the plot gets messy. Some scenes are over-forced, some undeveloped, and the pacing is weird. | 6 | Movie | 1
| ![]() | Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World Enjoyment greatly varies between episodes (episodic story telling). Kino is emotionless which makes some scenes less engaging than they could be. | 7 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu The second half of the show is less exciting. | 7 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Koe no Katachi Could be better if the entire source material was adapted (the side characters didn't get enough screen time making later scenes with them feel weird). | 7 | Movie | 1

| ![]() | Magi: The Kingdom of Magic | 5 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic The show is good until the Sindria arc, where it has gone into the generic shounen territory and lost its own charm. The second season is even worse in that regard. A bit wasted potential as the setting is unique. | 6 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid Season 2 badly needed, the anime is unfinished. | 6 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica | 9 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Movie 3: Hangyaku no Monogatari The third movie was created due to the success of the TV series. It did not need to be, as the original plotline was perfectly concluded and not really designed to be continued. The story of this movie takes place after the events of the original show and thus, its storywriters had a very hard task to somehow continue the adventures of the main cast of characters - the cast that, by the way, should be mostly dead. But they were doing pretty good... until a certain point. Bringing all the characters back to life is already very far-fetched, but the worst happens at the point when Homura meets Madoka. She steals Madoka's status (as if that could be stolen at all), ignoring any laws of the universe established by the TV series, and thus, making the last minutes of this movie very disgraceful towards the original series. Even the writers admitted, that they had initially planned to give the movie a happy ending when both girls met, but they were pushed for a more open conclusion instead... a conclusion that doesn't belong in the world of Madoka. At the end I was left greatly disappointed, but at least I had witnessed some great animation and soundtrack. | 6 | Movie | 1

| ![]() | Nisekoi The anime is good but the ending disappointed me. After bulding so much tension between the main character and Onodera, their relationship did not noticeably progress. | 7 | TV | 20

| ![]() | Serial Experiments Lain Unconvincing and unclear plot due to the lack of meaningful direction. Same as Texhnolyze - starts interestingly but everything becomes chaotic in the end, not making much sense. That is not surprising given both animes share the same scriptwriter. Especially the materialization of Masami Eiri felt illogical and out of place. | 5 | TV | 13
| ![]() | Shiki Doc was the only interesting chracter. Too predictable plot but smashing vamps was satisfying. And those hairstyles. | 6 | TV | 22

| ![]() | Shokugeki no Souma The story goes downhill after the episode 20 (autumn tournament). | 8 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Shokugeki no Souma: Ni no Sara Season 1 contains emotional and magical moments, often ascending beyond cooking - teaching life lessons. This season lacks that. What remains is a solid cooking show, but nothing more. The result of every cooking battle is extremely predictable, and that's a problem, since the whole season is about a tournament. The first set of judges was not introduced for some reason, making them feel out of place. They are boring and their reactions are dumb, compared to what we are used to. | 6 | TV | 13

| ![]() | Strike Witches | 5 | TV | 12
| ![]() | Sword Art Online A good concept but a wasted potential. The world as a video game is not presented well here, just showing hp bars is not enough. Players' avatars are mostly mature, muscular men that don't reflect the real appearance of a typical MMO player, yet for some reason our protagonists match their real world appearances. The anime tries to stay on a serious tone but refuses to seriously harm or kill its protagonists... who happen to be boring and shallow personality-wise. Most of the side characters don't contribute to anything (harem background). Kirito is the only capable 'player' and everyone else is powerless, with his harem being a bunch of annoying 'noobs' (since its a video game) who serve no purpose to the plot. | 4 | TV | 25
| ![]() | Tenshi no Tamago | 6 | OVA | 1
| ![]() | Terra e... (TV) The world is cohesive, but there are only few interesting characters. Questionable story direction - I was not satisfied by how the plot had progressed (the main character eventually regressed as a person by losing moral values which he had tried to preserve during the show). Annoying character art. | 7 | TV | 24
| ![]() | Texhnolyze The only interesting character in this show was Yoshii who died at the episode 10. Later, there was too much shooting and mafia scenes for my taste. The anime also failed to express any meaningful message or motive through its plot and characters. | 5 | TV | 22
| ![]() | Toaru Kagaku no Railgun Saten best girl. The first arc - the story about power-upper - is my favourite among all railgun seasons. It focuses on low level characters and their craving for power. Unfortunately, that's the only arc revolving around low levels we get. The second arc of the 1st season is much worse due to being a filler - its main drawback is superficial villain without convincing motives. Looking at the later seasons, I don't like the direction this show has taken. It focuses on Misaka as a character, but there isn't much development of her over all three seasons. Generally, the focus is put on level 5 characters and their fights, but I don't care about that. I don't care about their struggles, as that's the low level people that interest me. But sadly, all the low level characters that flourish in the episode 14 of season 1 got abandoned by the author, and worst of all - Saten's character/ability development got abandoned as well. She stays low level during the entire story (season 1/2/3). To sum up - a disappointing plot direction. | 6 | TV | 24

| ![]() | Toradora! I could never relate to or familiarize with Taiga, but the story eventually gets focused on her personality, which made it not enjoyable for me to watch. Zaimokuza is a very annoying and useless character. | 6 | TV | 13

There is hardly any development of them (to the episode 12 at least), and everyone's morals and point of view seems to be stuck 10m in the concrete. The 'funny moments' in this show are too blunt to be displayed that often, so they end up boring. The anime tries to be serious in certain areas of plot while being childish in others, creating very annoying contrast. It tells us about the struggles of living in the primitive world, but nobody relevant gets seriously hurt or dies, and looks like nobody ever will; yet the plot is about opposing a 'bad guy' threating lives of others. | 4 | TV | 12

Airing
The anime is a prime example of quantity over quality principle. Many episodes have a very gross pacing, due to the studio producing more episodes than there are manga chapters, which should be the other way around. The individual arcs and their plotlines are usually too long for what they aim to present, except the ones deeply tied to the main plotline. And the main plotline, while interesting, moves at a snail's pace. Additionally, there is an excess of side characters and most of them feel like an unnecessary, generic content, like a copy-paste template used to keep the show and manga going. The anime has a very questionable, grotesque character art style. The body proportions are ridiculous and the size differences are enormous. I'm fine with some variance but that is way overboard to my taste, so I often found myself disgusted when looking at some characters. | 4 | TV | 500
