(Kaiman head in formalin should revert back to normal when ebisu died, no?) | 9 | 190 | 23 | Manga

| ![]() | Look Back | 6 | - | 1 | Manga
| ![]() | Mosquito War The best execution of "rule of cool" manga I've ever seen. It does everything right: it is short, focuses on a small, solid cast, has great monster designs, unique style and a strong theme it is willing to properly explore and incomporate into its creative vision. Are there mistakes? Of course, you can't have a 48 chapter story that wants to be so ambitious without cutting some corners, but it is well worth it. | 8 | 49 | 3 | Manhwa
| ![]() | Nijigahara Holograph Immaculately packaged and full of vibes set of puzzles, soaked in mythology and metaphors. People itself are more of ideas to explore than real humans. I found the process of uncoding the message and than checking with other more time intensive and full interpretations to be qutie fun. After figuring everything out on one hand I liked the contrast of dark narrative and positive message, but on the other I didn't feel any impact. By conveluting the whole plot and timeline of his work author made it feel distant. After unpacking it, it felt like a bit of a lecture. Theme was there, but I had to detach it from the story to understand it and that lessened its impact. We want themes in plots to experience them through good characters and good stories. That's what makes them impactful and memorable. Not only did the story felt barley like a story it was also stretched thin over too many 'characters'. I admire the effort, but it was a beautiful failure. | 6 | 15 | 1 | Manga
| ![]() | Sayonara Eri | 9 | - | 1 | Manga
| ![]() | Sekiro Gaiden: Shinazu Hanbei | 7 | 8 | 1 | Manga
| ![]() | Shinai naru Boku e Satsui wo Komete A generic core of a typical revenge story skillfully twisted into a competent mystery. It got a bit messy in its efforts to make all of the necessary plot points tick and sometimes fell into the zone of unbelievablity, but it worked out in the end as the ride was enjoyable and characters handled well in their purpose. Unfortunately this goal oriented writing was quite obvious and wasn't skilled enough making everything feel pretty artificial. Art was very good which made quite an impression on me as this is the first manga series I read in a physical format. | 7 | 98 | 11 | Manga
| ![]() | Shingeki no Kyojin | 7 | 141 | 34 | Manga
| ![]() | Sidonia no Kishi Despite frustrating problems this is a one in a kind story with the most interesting society and mech combat I ever saw. | 7 | 78 | 15 | Manga
| ![]() | Tokyo Ghoul | 7 | 144 | 14 | Manga
| ![]() | Tokyo Ghoul:re Final antagonists felt weak lessening the impact of the climax, the thing with the dragon didn't work for me and the conclusions to the characters with walls of text was rushed and frustrating. Fake out deaths were annoying, many characters didn't face consequences for their awful actions, occasional use of talk no jutsu felt cheap. For such a dark and tragic manga many characters had a happy ending, which I don't think was executed properly. Even tho Touka is an ok character, for her role she should be much better. Manga that ought to have been an 8/10 turned out to be more of a 5 which is very disappointing... still much better then the anime tho. | 5 | 181 | 16 | Manga
