Can't decide between 8 or 9. And there's no way there won't be some sort of sequel given that ending.
When that happens, please give more screentime to Suruga. Between the two more "comic-relief" characters (though I personally don't want to view them as just that), I think Tamaki was given much more exposure. Seriously, you gotta give a sniper his feature time! 2nd season pls.

Things I liked:
- Art (why I watched it in the first place)
- Balance of seriousness and humour, which doesn't fall flat
- Battle animation
- Not only is the battle animation fantastic, they have proper front & backlines, and solo combos with stringed team assists. 胸熱。

Splendid first two episodes, brilliant final episode.
Too bad about the episodes in between - as well as Ohana's character - that were needlessly irrelevant and sidetracked from what could have been a 10/10 potential, though there had been a couple of good episodes here and there.
A shame of what-could-have-been.

But one thing for sure, the art (background, character consistency, etc) is fantastic - it perhaps even deserves 1 point in itself (pushing the score up to a 8/10?). Art was why I first decided to catch this series anyway, so no complaints here.

One of those rare series that makes you realise a show can be very entertaining, yet you just cannot vest much emotions in its characters, plot, and consequently, outcome.

Laughed at certain parts in the last episode at inappropriate moments (I think). Entertainingly bad.

But there really are a lot of unexplained details. It is one thing to end with sufficient clues for the wiser viewers to figure out the implications of the unexplained; it is another thing to end with plot holes in its wake. I think they tried to do the former, but it wasn't enough. If they end up going eigaka with this and actually explain some things, I may want to give the score +1.

The non-animation works for this series, because it doesn't distract the viewer from the story.
As a result though, I also cannot give it a 10/10 as an animation.
But it's definitely a 10/10 picture show.

Great OP and ED.
My only annoyance is that Yokoi's mouth is actually animated to be moving - which means she is speaking out loud - instead of doing inner-silent-tsukkomi one should have in the classroom context. In fact, this made her very irritating. The tsukkomi-ing is necessary, of course, but if you seemingly insist on making so much actual noise in the classroom, then just get found out by the teacher already. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut please.

Update: Happily, this doesn't happen anymore with the newer episodes so Yokoi does proper inner-tsukkomi now.

Update 2: In the end, I can't get to like Yokoi. It could be the first episode that gave me a bad impression of her, but her continual self-denial of wanting to check out Seki's activities (i.e. can't you just enjoy them without the tsundereness so that -I- can enjoy watching you), or even instances of her blaming her distraction/screwup on Seki (no, missy, why don't you reflect on yourself), single-handedly prevent me from enjoying this series fully. And I really love this kind of series - plus Seki-kun is brilliant - so this is very unfortunate.

Love the food, the premise, the atmosphere, but even after all the 12 episodes, the MC still looks like an alien to me and just cannot get myself to fully enjoy the series even though I get that she's supposed to look cute.

If only all the mobs in the anime are just as alien-looking, or the MC looks like all the other normal-looking mobs... then this wouldn't stick out to me like such a sore fried asparagus in a series that feature such glorious food. Wasted.
