The official website of the Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica Gaiden (Magia Record: Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story) anime series announced on Monday that the third and final season, Asaki Yume no Akatsuki (Dawn of a Shallow Dream), will be delayed to Spring 2022 due to production issues. The new season was scheduled to premiere in December 2021.

The first two seasons, produced by Shaft, aired in Winter 2020 and Summer 2021 for 13 and 8 episodes, respectively. Aniplex of America licensed the anime series in North America and simulcast it on Funimation with subtitles, followed by Crunchyroll and HIDIVE.

Magia Record: Mahou Shoujo Madoka☆Magica Gaiden adapts the smartphone game of the same name, which serves as a spin-off to the 2011 anime series Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica (Puella Magi Madoka Magica). Aniplex launched the smartphone game for Android and iOS platforms in August 2017. The English edition of the game terminated its service last September.
