The official website of the Tiger & Bunny anime series announced a second season on Friday, scheduled to debut in 2022. The new series, titled Tiger & Bunny 2, will take place after the events in the Tiger & Bunny: The Rising anime film.

Mitsuko Kase (Ristorante Paradiso, Young Black Jack) is directing the second season at Bandai Namco Pictures (Mairimashita! Iruma-kun, ClassicaLoid). Screenwriter Masafumi Nishida will once again handle the series composition. Manga artist Masakazu Katsura (Garo: Guren no Tsuki, Akanesasu Shoujo), who drew the original character designs for the series, is returning as the character designer.

Voice actors Hiroaki Hirata (B: The Beginning) and Masakazu Morita (Baccano!) will reprise as the lead characters Kotetsu T. Kaburagi and Barnaby Brooks Jr., respectively.

Synopsis
In Stern Bild City, those with special abilities are called "NEXT," and can use their powers for good or bad. A unique organized group of NEXT appear regularly on Hero TV, where they chase down evildoers to bring limelight to their sponsors and earn Hero Points in the hopes of becoming the next "King of Heroes."

Kotetsu T. Kaburagi, known as "Wild Tiger," is a veteran hero whose performance has been dwindling as of late, partially due to his inability to cooperate with other heroes. After a disappointing season in which most of the other heroes far outperformed Tiger, he is paired up with a brand new hero who identifies himself by his real name—Barnaby Brooks Jr.

Barnaby, nicknamed "Bunny" by his frivolous new partner, quickly makes it clear that the two could not be more different. Though they mix as well as oil and water, Tiger and Bunny must learn to work together, both for the sake of their careers and to face the looming threats within Stern Bild. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Keiichi Satou (Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis, Inuyashiki chief director) helmed the original 2011 anime at Sunrise. The side story film—subtitled The Beginning—premiered in Japan in 2012, with The Rising sequel film opening in 2014.

Mizuki Sakakibara began a manga adaptation based on the first 13 anime episodes in Newtype Ace in 2011. The manga moved to Kadokawa Niconico Ace in 2013 due to the former ceasing publication and ended the following December with nine volumes.

Hiroshi Ueda launched a separate manga adaptation in Miracle Jump October 2011, complementing the anime original story. The manga concluded in September 2016 with seven volumes.

VIZ Media licensed the anime series in North America and released the television series and side story on home video throughout 2013, with the sequel film in December 2014. The company also published Sakakibara's manga adaptation, Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning manga adaptation, and the Tiger & Bunny Comic Anthology.
