Boku kara Kimi ga Kienai
There isn't anything about this manga that really stands out to me. It's basically your average shoujo manga with a love triangle that takes place in a high school setting. The characters are pretty lackluster as well. The female protagonist (Hotaru) is naive and insecure and her main love interest (Kousuke) is a possessive guy who's popular with other girls at school because he's humble and excels at sports. There are some obstacles that temporarily threaten their relationship: Kousuke's brother, a jealous ex-girlfriend, and Hotaru's strict parents, but it's obvious that the ending will turn out in the couple's favor. The plot is predictable and, consequently, isn't very suspenseful. Its lack of depth is understandable due to the relatively short amount of chapters, but there are manga out there that are able to develop a more complex story with the same, if not a smaller, length. The manga as whole isn't bad, though. It meets the expectations that I hold for the stereotypical shoujo romance manga, but certainly doesn't exceed them. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a cute romance story that doesn't require much thinking and has a happy ending. Otherwise, it's probably a waste of time that could instead be spent on reading something that commands more emotional investment or is more insightful.

Heart no Kuni no Alice: Wonderful Wonder World
I thought that this manga was really cute. It was another twist on the classic Alice in Wonderland story, but with many more romantic interests. In this sense, it was very much like Ouran High School Host Club, where there was one female protagonist and all the males with different personalities fawned over her. All of the characters were lively and I loved all of them! When they are all introduced, you'll find yourself having a hard time on who to root for to be little Alice's partner. The little sprinkles of comedy here and there were also enjoyable. There were some unexpected twists along the way as well, which made it difficult to stop reading. I wished that this manga hadn't ended so soon, because I felt as though it ended with the reader wanting so much more.

Meteor Methuselah
It took the longest time for me to finish Immortal Rain. Before Yuca (no details, I don't want to spoil the story) came along and things started happening, I had no interest in this manga, whatsoever. I found it to be very cheesy and boring and even considered dropping it. I'm so glad that I decided not to give up and continue reading. The story gets better as more of the characters and their pasts are introduced. Immortal Rain brings an interesting topic to the plate and makes the reader really question the significance of life. What's worse? Being able to live forever and see all of your loved ones die before you or living, dying, and being reborn again in an endless cycle? I grew to like all of the characters by the end of the series, except for Folk of course. The romance between Machika and Rain becomes very strong, almost to the point of being unrealistic. Overall, I thought that this manga was really interesting and full of action, which was a nice change from typical romance stories.

Nineteen, Twenty-One
This definitely isn't your typical shoujo/romance. The overall feeling throughout the story is warm and calm, without being boring or cliched. The relationship between Yun Lee and Dong Hwi is super cute and sincere. I also liked the connections between cats and the events in the story. I felt as though they brought all the loose pieces together into one cohesive puzzle. I was really satisfied with the ending, too. The artwork is also very clean and light, which is a nice transition from the overdone, sparkly romance manga I've read before. This is a very sweet manhwa with little drama that I found was quite enjoyable.

Omamori no Kamisama
Overall, I thought that this manga was cute, but that was about it. Even though this is supposedly a romance manga, I didn't see much of it when I read it. Yes, there was a love triangle, but nothing romantic happened except for a bit of jealously. The plot was also predictable and lacked a lot of depth. This manga reminded me of Shugo Chara! in the sense that there were little fairy-like companions who used their powers to make their masters happy and eliminate the "bad versions" of their own kind. I felt like the manga had a nice ending, though, considering how often loose ends of stories are never tied up.
