Damn Suwa is an awesome character, he isn’t a puss and he isn’t a jerk. He acts like I think I would. That Kazuki chick looks like a psycho bitch but she isn’t a bad person, just misguided.
I think Daisuke and Aikawa will actually stay together forever. I think Kusunoki just made both of them realistic and level-headed by having them acknowledge that their relationship has a long way to go before they can know if they want to be together forever. Definitely one of the best manga I've ever read. |

This played out like a banal romance until the last 2 chapters where Makoto starts going out with Sekai behind Kotonoha's back, that's the part of this manga that's really worth reading.
The ending was a pretty unexpected twist which was the best aspect of this manga |

The manga's so much more in depth than the anime
Vol. 4, The fall out of the punk fight was worth the fight's uncreative premise Vol.10, Shinji was pretty cool in this until he started hyperventilating and passed out, that was lame. August 18, 2015 - You make a good point, Assy from... 2011? Shinji was totally pretty cool until he started hyperventilating in Volume 10. I forgot that I had even read that far ahead. You neglected to mention how much worse Kaowaru is in the manga version. The manga Kawaru is too bratty and animated. He's like a tsundere bitch exceptin' he's a dude, man. He pretty much replaced Asuka since she is in her catatonic state in this point of the series. Bottom line, Kaworu is much cooler in the anime. Also, a major sticking point to me is WHEN they introduce Kawroo. In the manga, he is introduced before the battle with the space Zapdos: WHILE SHINJI STILL HAD ALL OF HIS FRIENDS, NON-COMATOSE ASUKA, AND REI II! Why should he hang out with some homo who all of a sudden showed up to pilot one of the Evas? In the anime, HE SHOWED UP AFTER REI II BLEW UP AND SHINJI HAD NO ONE HE COULD TURN TO. At the very least, by reading the manga, I have achieved a greater understanding and appreciation for the anime version. I started re-reading the whole manga again since probably July 2014, and have read Volumes 8, 9, & 10 on August 16, 2015. Read chapter 75 on August 18, 2015 Read chapter 76 through 79 on August 19, 2015 Read chapter 80 through 83 on August 20, 2015 Read chapter 84 through 86 on August 25, 2015 Apparently, chapter 83 was the furthest I read prior to August 25, 2015. I must have read it over 2 or 3 years ago. Once Shinji gets back in the Eva, events play out differently than in the anime. Let's just say Asuka's a little less dead ;-) Read chapter 87 through 91 on August 26, 2015. They Red Earth Ceremonied the hell out of those chapters. Read chapter 92 on September 1, 2015. Read chapter 93 and 94 on September 2, 2015. THERE IS NO KWARU IN THIRD IMPACT :D HURRY!! Not so much as a mention! These chapters elaborate on Shinji's past some more. We also learn Rei loves Shinji, and she is disappointed that he rejects third impact (it was just them together). Read chapter 95 through 97 on September 3, 2015. Boy that got fungoed up. Weak sauce brah. WTF?!..Wolf's Rain much?! Chapter 97 introduced Mari from the Rebuild as 16 year old college student who's friends with Yui, I don't know how that's supposed to work. Mari said she loves Yui, but the series ended before they banged, so I think she was lying. By the by, I am docking this from a 9 to a 8 due to my crushing disappointment with the conclusion. |

A mildly interesting take on the alternate universe episode of Neon Genesis.
Shinji totally dropped Rei as a romantic interest way too soon The tangent about Gendo and Yui getting together was actually interesting, but a better job could have been done on finishing the story. As far as I can remember, the first volume of this was the first time I actually read an entire volume of a manga. |

The anime was better simply because it ended with him getting the girl.
It looks like the anime covers up to chapter 72 in the manga. I didn't like that Yamato and Suzuka had sex, but I figure "Hey, I could see wanting to have sex on some chick." Anyways, the story stops being great once Yamato impregnates Suzuka. If Seo didn't go down that road, I'd say Suzuka may have been a 9. The ending's sad since Tamura almost misses his chance to tell Matsuzawa how he feels about her.
This sadness is compounded into a crygasm by the ending, where both Matsuzawa and Souma reflect on their love of Tamura leaving the reader to ponder which one (probably Souma) will be hurt in the future. |
