Decent 7. Probably worst pacing in JoJo, the same goes for character cast. So much subplots and random things were thrown into the plot, as much as you forgot what was the story about in the first place. Other than that it was still quite interesting flawed story, great unique stands and probably best design wise.

Strong 5. Trying too hard to be dark and edgy.
Too much useless subplots, most of them I actually enjoyed, but they barely contribute and resonate with the main storyline. mc's relationship with Aiko is overly undeveloped and is there just for the sake of story having a direction, rather than actually having substance and using it to showcase the progression of cast or to any other reason, but with the ending being this anticlimactic, the overall story felt hollow and it just happened for the sake of happening. A lot of pseudophilosophy and "trying to be deep" lines I liked Seki's subplot quite a lot, panneling was great, but other than that I didn't enjoy this; nothing else to say really. Definitely a must read because the theme of coming out of age is presented ok, I guess, and just for having food for thought. |

Light 10. It's incredible how much impact on the reader is made solely through facial expressions because of Inoue's skill in drawing emotions.
It had incredible action, comedy, drama, suspense and I'm not even a big basketball fan or just overall sports fan. Great mc, great teammates and side characters, lots of high peaks and decent ending. What I liked the most about Slam Dunk is that all the moves and skill is not just coming from nowhere, you know it's going to happen, but author still manages to make interesting and captivating matches without random skill boosts and miracles |

Strong 10. Story about a person finding his place in the world, understanding and accepting his past, moving forward, full of philosophical questions and real food for thought.
Whole cast is in the story for a reason, whether it be mc or random secondary character,all of the dialogues and monologues are high tier, that actually tries to tell you a message, instead of being there just for the sake of having text. Fights are more compelling and interesting than fights in most battle shounen. Art is consistently on another level, panelling is great also. Incredible skill of author in showing facial expressions of characters gave more information about their state in the moment, than words in other titles. Pacing might be slow sometimes (around 100 chapter, new character introduction arc and last arc), but it actually helps the story. Just amazing |
