This is another anime that I feel I need to see again to get a feel for the spirit behind it. I don't remember being particularly overwhelmed by it, although I loved the world the creators made.
Like everything Gonzo distributes, it is beautiful animation. You will never find a more amazing opening EVER! I think I can even iron clad guarantee that. Suzumiya Haruhi is the closest comparison I can come up with and that is HARD to beat. Even Akira couldn't do it.
The music is also incredible. You will go broke getting the soundtrack, but it will never leave your sound system.
Although I initially didn't give this a very high rating, I suspect I haven't given it it's fair due. Either way, give this one a chance - I doubt you would be disappointed and at the very least, you will see what good openings SHOULD look like.
