Add - More Ano Natsu de Matteru 2: This seems like the perfect show for me. Loving it so far. 4: This really is as close to perfect as I've seen. It's funny, it's got the right amount of fluff, the characters are nice, the setting is nice. Is this a guilty pleasure? 6: The drama is picking up. Hopefully they don't overdo it. There's still a lot of humor (mostly in the middle section of the episodes) so that's good. 8: Getting more dramatic. Still, I can tell I like this because I don't think to check the episode time until there are only two or three minutes left. 9: I wasn't planning on crying for this one... but I just might have to. 12: The last few episodes are a little iffy but the second half of the last episode had me tearing up. Well played, JC Staff. Well played indeed. It's like professional fan fiction.

Add - More Baccano! I feel like this is the type of show that you have to watch more than once to fully appreciate. However, I didn't enjoy it enough to justify watching it again. Still, it's a very interesting concept. There is no main character, neither is there a definite beginning or end to the story. The nonlinear, Pulp Fiction-esque manner in which the story unfolds, while confusing, is certainly omoshiroi.

Add - More Bakuman. 2: Seems promising. Kinda funny. 4: I don't understand. Why is this so fun to watch? 9: This is such a nice show. Lovely, even. Music is good (including insert songs). Great characters. Comedy! They aren't really any filler episodes. At first it was weird because I'm used to there being episodes without much plot advancement. However, once you get past the fact that a single episode can take up several months' worth of time, you start to enjoy the fast-paced structure. It means more action, I guess. And somehow they manage to develop the characters incredibly well in spite of this. Wow, what a series. Can't wait for season 2!

Cool. 5: It's not very good. The script isn't god-awful but the characters are super bland, the MC especially so. Also, I think the direction is probably the worst. I can't really describe it but the way the story is presented just feels off and low budget. Luckily, they're smart enough to funnel the budget into the things that matter: cute girls and action. 6: Looks like Clock's gonna show up next episode (finally). 8: Well that wasn't *terrible*. 9: Mehhh 10: Almost there. I still don't how there can be 17 episodes worth of material left but Jeff says I won't be disappointed.

Otherwise, this will just be a better version of Darker than Black. 11: Well... that got interesting real fast. 12: This was the first episode that I had to look up the synopsis for because I couldn't understand what was happening. That's better than Baccano but I shouldn't have to do it at all. 13: More characters and less interesting stuff. yare yare 16: I guess consistency is a problem here. Sometimes the animation is great, sometimes it's abysmal. Sometimes the soundtrack is cool, sometimes it's awful. Sometimes that dialogue is interesting, sometimes it's dull. Sometimes the characters feel real, sometimes they're flat. Sometimes the plot is captivating, sometimes it has no direction. 17: Telling, not showing. It's not bad if I force myself to invest but I shouldn't have to do that. 18: Flashbacks flashbacks flashbacks flashbacks. It does some things well (little things like how Mikado's eyes are grey) but the overall package isn't good. Most problems seemed to be solved by a person (often Shizuo) just happening to be at the right place in Ikebukuro at that time. There aren't any strong female characters. :(

The cultural festival arc was really cool because it gave that aspect of high school life much more attention than other shows typically do. The filler episodes were boring and their "mysteries" were pretty laughable. I wish the story was comprised solely of arcs like the movie or the cultural festival as the progression of the story/mystery in those made the show tolerable. Also, I just want to say that I totally called the Houtarou/Chitanda thing. As soon as they met, I said, "I'll bet we get 22 episodes of 'will they/won't they?', culminating in an open-ended and ultimately unsatisfying ending". Zuboshi!

Add - More Kotonoha no Niwa Visually, Shinkai has outdone himself once again. The plot, however, wasn't as poignant as I'd imagined it would be. The music was nice, but that's to be expected from Tenmon. Overall, I was expecting more. It falls prey to a trend I've noticed a lot in anime these days: a pretty nice (though somewhat uneventful) build-up to a really lackluster ending. Kinda like Whisper of the Heart but much better overall. Anyway, I'd still recommend it. Seeing this a second time really helped. It's much more subtle than 5cm/s, to which I was unconsciously comparing it. I noticed a few things that I missed the first time around (like Mr. Itou's name in the phone history). This has a lot of re-watch value, especially on lonely days. Another lonely re-watch. If only Shawn wasn't well versed in the art of fucking up everything I do, this would've been a real treat. At least it was nice. The first half is really great but I'm not too fond of the direction it goes after that. The ending is abrupt and overdramatic. The music felt a bit off here and there and it's not my favorite of Tenmon's catalogue but the sound production elsewhere (e.g., the rain effects) was great. And, of course, the visuals have yet to be topped. Strangely, on this watch I saw Takao as more of an adult and Yukino as more of child. I wonder if there's any merit to that idea. I wonder if there's any merit to any of this.

Add - More Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso 1: I'm predicting MC-kun falls in love with Taneda Risa but she rebuffs his advances. Meanwhile, osananajimi-chan falls for MC-kun but he's too busy with Taneda-san to realize. It's like AnoNatsu all over again... and I'm gonna love every minute of it. 2: All I have to do is make sure I root for Taneda Risa and this should be a smooth ride. I'm glad best-friend-kun isn't voiced by the VA of the best friend in Nisekoi (you know the guy). I do wish that the show would have a little more faith in my intelligence, though. I can remember what a character said two minutes ago, man. Jeez. 3: Not a whole lot is happening but it's still nice. I like the josei art style, though oddly this is adapted from a shounen manga. 4: This show is so blatant with its themes, it hurts a little. It's weird hearing Taneda Risa voice a character without dark (e.g., brown, purple) hair. I wish someone would make a music anime that doesn't emulate sports anime with competitions and match commentary from all the characters. 5: Hm, not very good. 6: Spoke too soon. They're bringing in that best-friend-kun VA (and the Ayase/Yanagi VA too). 8: Hm. 9: Emi's breathing was backwards. Come on, A-1. I'm getting kinda sick of competitions+flashbacks. I just want some good, nostalgic, high-school romance. Is that too much to ask for? 10: Looks like we're transitioning out of a competition arc. Please, please don't dive right back into another. 11: Huh. Not bad. But another concert/competition? Hm, I'll stick with it. 12: More like "My *Sigh* in March":. Because I'm sighing at how cringe-y this is. And it's March. 13: Half-good, half-bad. 15: Ai Hayano! Isn't it a bit late to introduce a new character? Drama's getting more intense. At least there aren't any competitions. 18-19: I can't remember the last time I wanted to drop a show this far through. 20: hmm 22: Great final performance. Kaori's passing was a bit sudden. Add - More Shingeki no Kyojin Live, Summer 2013 [EveTaku] 3: Pretty good so far. The first episode was great but it's been lagging since then. The action is by the best part of the show so hopefully they'll focus on that more. 5: ohohoho getting interesting 9: Still interesting but the cast is getting too large to keep track of. Zane says this arc is getting too long but I really like it. 13: Finished the first half. It still passes the goosebump test. I wonder how they'll keep the urgency up now that they've had their first real victory against the Titans. Should be interesting. One thing I'm not looking forward to, however, is the new OP/ED pair. :( 15: It's losing its edge. Also, the new ED isn't that great. The thing with EDs is that they're often the last thing that a viewer sees, the final impression of a series. This one just doesn't seem like it'll be a good ending ED. 16: Spread too thin. Who's Marco? Why should I care that he died? 18: The urgency is back so that's good. 19: My main beef with this is the abundance of telling, as opposed to showing. Like, it's *bad*.

Add - More Shinsekai yori 3: This is kinda cool. Slice of life supernatural story with a dark twist. Cool ED too. 7: The story isn't captivating me. Luckily, however, it seems we'll be returning to a school arc so that's cool. Still loving the art style and the ED. 8: Well, this show sure changed course quickly. Also, I really like the aesthetic here. The characters are gorgeous and... well, they have nice clothes too. :) 10: Holy wow, this show is all over the place. It's super dramatic and takes itself way too seriously... yet they still find time to insert (not very subtle) fanservice. I just don't know anymore, man. 13: Gettin' a little better. 17: They changed the ED or, in other words, the only thing they had going for them. :( 18: Interesting twist of events. 20: It's definitely gotten better. But it's still not my kind of show. 21: This last third is actually pretty good. The problem is that the way in which they set everything up didn't jive with me so it's hard to care at all for the characters. Unfortunately, first impressions are very important. Overall, a good series with a well-executed ending. The problem is that (for me, personally) it didn't do a good job setting everything up. So when things started getting dramatic, I didn't care about the characters which greatly lessened the impact.

Add - More Shirobako 2: I love the scene where a bunch of the staff are all in one room discussing the characters' backgrounds and throwing out ideas for what makes a character appeal to them. It's clear that they all really love anime. Also, Fuji Asuka (the assistant mixer) is best girl so far. 10: Interesting bit about sound effects. 16: Now *that's* how you end an episode. We need more of that, more interplay between the animation and the real world. 17: The quality continues with a solid PV. Keep it up, Shirobako. 18: Gotta finish this out. 21: I'm gonna do it! 23: Oh. Oooohhhhhhh.

Add - More Tamayura: Hitotose It accomplished exactly what it set out to do which was to be a relaxing show to "heal" after a long, stressful day/week. There's practically no conflict but at the same time there isn't much progression. The show isn't very dynamic. The characters are sweet and the show has an interesting premise. It could have been something much more interesting but, for what it aimed to be, it's very good.
